Ok, again I was listening to TalkSport the other day, and they were discussing an idea by Mike Parry. Now usually his opinions and ideas are so over the top, they are unreal. He will argue something ridiculous, however he has a brilliant mind and can argue these things superbly.

He came up with an idea regarding changing the seeding for the FA Cup. His idea was to split the premiership teams - aswell as the top half of the Championship, so they cannot play each other in the 1st round. Then the first round would be drawn, and you would see tiny clubs being drawn against the big guns.

Now it sounds mad, and it is something that many people would be opposed to purely because people do not like change - however think about it carefully. Think about the pro's and con's of such an idea? All this extra money going to lower clubs would be so beneficial.

So I want your opinions. Could this idea ever work? If you answer, please give reasons why you think it can/cannot work. Other ideas are welcome in this thread also.

I think the idea would be perfect, simply because of what you say about the extra revenue going towards the smaller clubs,it's a very good idea in my opinion.

Not a bad idea O Dogg, but I feel the FA cup may lose some of its magic it it's changed. At least if it was changed there wouldnt be a repeat of the 2004 final where United had an easy game in the final with Millwall who played a host of lower division sides to get to the final.

it would be good for the little clubs, money wise.

But no-one has ever complained, or had any problems with the FA cup and the way the rounds are. so why change it. as yorkshire news says, "change is not good!"

Sometimes things need a change or a shakeup.

As I said, it is an idea. Can you give any specific reasons as to why you think it shouldn't change? Pro's and con's sort of thing.

Yes, purely so the smaller, less established clubs can generate revenue and have more chance of survival.

No, incase it doesn't work. May not be worth the risk.

Personally, I say yes.

pros's
more revenue
more giant killing potential
may rekindle the lost "romance of the cup"

cons
less chance of smaller teams making a cup run, generating more income then a one off against a big side
tradition will be lost
gives the bigger clubs an advantage by avoiding each other

yeh look odogg, the idea is good because of the revenue. Except revenue is more a behind the scenes thing, where the main aspect is to do with watching the games, and not watching trouncings. I think leave it as it is ( a bit clitche's).
