I think we all know that England won't win the WC. Maybe in 2011 and it is true they have a lot to do to achieve that.
I will need to see those 3 games to see if they really played so badly.

Oh so you haven't watched the games.
I can help with that you know Wink

I know I sound harsh and I apologise for it before someone tells me off
but I am SO annoyed with their recent performances
- it's because I really like team England and I want them to play better.
I know they can!

England are not very coherent as a team - but then again they have always seemed a bit out of sync with each other. They need a residency camp like the USA have - but thats never gonna happen.

A week (or however long it was) really doesnt cut it Laughing I'm talking at least a month intensive, like August maybe, before the WC starts. Preferably 6months intensive training to get them to work together as a team

From Fair Game magazine England 2007 schedule

Jan 4 nations tournament
Feb La manga spain U23 Tournament with several seniors
Mar home friendlies 8 RUS 11 SCO 14 HOLL
Apr la manga training camp + maybe a friendly
May 2009 EC qualifier 13 Northern Ire 17 Friendly
July training camp + friendly international
August holding camp
Sept 10-30 WC in china

Pre season 06-07 having started about the 20th of July 06 anyone for body exhaustion ? I think Faye White will be in excellent form as she will only have started her season in April but for the other Arsenal girls , they might end up having played up to 50 games during the year before the WC Exclamation

I hope they have the camp well planned for the recuparation and fitness building especially as the climate will be different from Europe.

Am I the only one who thinks that there's been an improvement on two years ago ! If the team of 2005 had played the weakened teams of USA/Germany they wouldn't of got even a draw.

A lot bigger improvement in England's game should have been made by now.
1-5 against Germany's full team and a draw against their weakened team
is not a big improvement IMO.

Two draws against not-so-strong-any-more France,
a draw against weakened USA,
about a year or 1.5 years ago
- two draws against Sweden's weakened team...

Why can't they WIN any big games,
why can't they BEAT any good teams?
And more important - why can't they at least PLAY BETTER against them?
They need to work and improve a lot more than they already did.
I'm afraid there's not much time left before the WC...

When they played France you said it was a good result and was well chuffed that England was into the w/c.

When they played Germany it was a weakened team.

We all new miracles weren't gonna happen at this tournament but there is an improvement , England don't play many internationals throughout the year like the U.S does , so there not together to gel. Hopefully with more this year it will come together.

Hope said she was pleased with what they achieved out there , she would know more than we do , if they had more time to get used to the conditions who knows what could of happened. Turning up a couple of days before it starts wouldn't of help matters.

They don't have enough confidence. For a team like them, they need to be winning on a regualr basis to keep up their spirits.
Against France it was great that we got to the WC, but we didn't win. When we should have pushed to get that win, though we let them get back into it and that isn't acceptable. It now seems like their drawing all the time, which is annoying because we NEED to win a row of games so they can have belief that they can win against big teams and if they don't push for that they are going to sink right to the bottom at the WC.
Draws aren't ever good enough, neither are wins unless the team plays together and shines!

Of course I was happy they have qualified to the WC, Smithy.
At that time I didn't even care how they played
as long as they have qualified.
It was even more of a shocker for me
as I expected France to win that game.

But then I expected more of England's team
at the friendly against Germany a month later.
I did not expect them to win,
I knew they'd lose this game
but I expected them to play better.
To play like a good team should.

I expected the same from the 4N Tournament.
Instead, I got to see a very poor performance
with the players that I know can play better than that, struggling,
making weird decisions, making loads of mistakes.
Why? I think Justme is spot on here:

No matter how many times they will say in interviews that they have the confidence,
you can see on the pitch that they lack it.
The players are nervous, tense and make too many mistakes because of that.
England is a good team, but they need to train more together
- I know that maybe it is not possible
but that's what it takes to win big tournaments
- practise a lot together, learn each other's moves / reactions etc.
To see what certain players lack and what elements of the game to work more on.

Let's hope they can learn something from this tournament
make good use of that camp in August
and play better in the very near future.
I do wish them that with all of my heart Cool
