Haha..

I thought she showed composure & confidence, but alike many of her team-mates she kept hoofing the ball forward back to the opposition. Continually taking the wrong options and once she missed that header in the dieing minutes of the game I thought it was shocking.

But she does look like a player who can hold her own in a nervy squad - because of experience & confidence in her own abilities & role.

She still looked better than most of her team mates,
especially among defenders.
Hey, if I'm saying nice things about Rachel Unitt,
and you must know I'm not the biggest fan of hers,
then she must have been good Laughing Wink

Hope Solo is fitter.

The use of the word 'fitter' being different to that of health fitness. Wink

We may be young, but we sure had fun
in winning the 2007 Four Nations Tournament in Guangzhou, China.
Playing without five of our veterans in Lil, Abby, Aly, Pearcie and Boxxy,
we opened the competition with a scoreless tie against Germany
and a 1-1 tie with England.
In our final game against China,
we came out with an aggressive, attacking mindset, Cool
which led to a 2-0 victory and the Four Nations Tournament title.
Now we are back home in the States to re-adjust our body clocks
and enjoy a two-week break before we reconvene in mid-February
at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. for more training.

An aggressive, attacking mindset sounds good Cool
Too bad some teams lack it.

Yeah, that's what impressed me most about the Yanks - they were the only real team who looked like scoring goals.

Chalupny proved so with a cracker from outside the box. Whereas the other sides were struggling to even hit the target from more than 10yds from the goal. And when they hit the target, most were straight at the Keeper - eg. Carney's effort straight at the China no.1, when she was in the perfect position with the ball at her mercy.

England especially need to be more clinical, although Germany were sometimes embarassing with their shooting too - obviously missing Prinz & Garefrekes.

Yes, the Germans didn't manage to score a single goal in the tournament.

Then add Lilly, Wambach and Wagner to that and then we will really see an agressive team with a very attacking mindset Laughing

Chalups goal was great, knew it was going in soon as it left her foot! Great to see her back after her concussions

First they left about half a dozen of their best players; PLEASE try to set up two full elevens which those or even one full elevne that’s better on all spots than the one they played. Wink

Secondly yes they beat the world no 1, but only in the final standing and not in the game and they where equally under strength so that do not say very much. Particularly so since US always seems to be able to find that little extra to win a tournament even for for non-championship while the European top team seems only to be able to muster that for championship so that will hardly be a matter in the WC. The other teams in the tournament was no 9 and 12 in the world ranking, one is not a serious contender to win it ( Wink ) and the other in my opinion only for those weighting home field advantage way to high.

They are no more favorites to win the WC now than they where before the four nations tournament, but they where that together with Germany even before the tournament.

Roberts, what exactly have you (England) improved?
Please explain, I want a debate Wink

Well I (England!) have improved our level of football! But I'm not talking just over the last year, I mean a few years - don't know the stats but the level of women's football is definately better.
But we still have a long way to go, more support and money would help and hopefully that will change soon.

I've noticed that we are competing better physically but still not great as proved by Unitt in the last game when she tried to block of a german attacking player and bounced off of her!! Laughing

Hey, entertainment is important too Laughing
That's why we (Arsenal) still keep Emma lol just kidding Laughing

OK, if you were talking about a few years,
then I agree, improvement has been made Smile

I just wish it was progressing a bit faster in the past few months.
Now that there's so little time left to the WC
and England play like that,
I'm worried they will end their WC adventure at the group stage...
Let's hope for a not-too-hard draw.
I wish Hungary were playing Laughing Wink
