England winger Rachel Yankey has moved to America to join W-League side the New Jersey Wildcats for the summer.
Yankey, 25, who was named Nationwide International Player of the Year in May, joined the table-topping Wildcats just before the transfer deadline. Rachel will return to Birmingham City for the 2005/06 FA Women's Premier League season. Wildcats General Manager Patric Santo Pietro said Yankey would be an "invaluable" signing for his side. And Wildcats coach Charlie Naimo said Yankey's ability to attack down the left side would be a huge boost to his team. "She was great with England at the Algarve Cup and in the Euros and we're hoping that she can keep that kind of play up with the Wildcats too," he said. |
