Whew, I think the best match of the UEFA cup of this round.
I already hoped for this match, after we beated Wisla.
Chances are 60/40 in the benefit of Tottenham I guess, but I think that if we play a good homegame we can beat them!

Your view, and who will visit Tottenham-Feyenoord? Maybe I will go oversea Smile .

yeah ...jammy Tottenham ...easiest match they will ever get in Europe . Apparent crowd trouble against Nancy back in november , they were origionally fined but Uefa decided to kick them out of the Uefa Cup ...dont know if they can appeal or not .

I don't think we're lucky mate. If we get a bye into the next round then I'll be very disappointed. Confused

Yea cos advancing in the Cup competitions while managing to cut a game from our hectic fixture schedule sucks the fat one. Neutral

Come on mate, are you serious? I've already posted about this situation in another thread but basically, I think it's a cheap way to get through. I know we couldn't help it, but I'd rather progress deservedly than by luck, because I think the cup would mean more if we managed to eventually win it. Also, by progressing properly, we would have avoided comments from other fans who will claim that we didn't deserve to win the cup because we didn't have to play as many games.
The frustrating thing is, that I was confident that we would have beaten Feyenoord anyway, so it isn't like we have skipped past an extremely tough challenge. I can obviously see the benefits of skipping a round, but if I were offered the choice then this isn't what I'd choose.

Perhaps I'm out of my mind. Smile

Yes, you are.

Say someone offered you £1 million, right in front of you, all you have to do is take it. Simple.

Or... you can go through an intense obstacle course, each section more intense than the last, with no guarantee that you will make it to the end to then collect the same amount of money for doing nothing.

Which would you choose then???

But if you win the competition, people will say - 'oh but you played less games and got a lucky bye'.

And if you played Feyenoord and waltzed through to win the competition, you'd be true winners without any blips.

See, there are other ways of looking at it. The easy way isn't often the most pleasant way.

Yeah I agree J-Axe.

If I were offered a million pounds Matt, there's no doubt that I'd take it, but it wouldn't necessarily do me any good. Something is always considerably more gratifying if one has earned it. Something for nothing isn't always a good thing.
Surely you'd rather win the UEFA Cup by conquering all the rounds, rather than getting a lucky bye through one of the rounds and subsequently leaving the team open to criticism? If someone offered Spurs the EPL title without having to play any games, would you take it Matt? It's an extreme example but it'd be a similar situation nevertheless.

Think of all the Spurs fans that have booked flights, ferries, hotels etc and got time off work from the boss.

Mont - I see what you mean mate, it does feel like a cheap way to get through but in my mind I agree with you that we would have beaten Feyenoord anyway so this way we cut two fixtures from our schedule and are in the next round.

Its not ideal, id rather watch us play football than stay at home doing nothing but theres nothing we can do about it now.

Yes Darren, we know that, that is what this thread is about.

What we are wondering and what hasnt been released yet is if Spurs will get a bye into the next round or if we will have to play someone else.

That decision is still taking place and will be announced friday.
