Maciej Zurawski is due in Glasgow in the next couple of days for talks as Turks Trabzonspor suggest that their signing target will join Celtic.
The £2m-rated 28-year-old forward is poised to move from Wisla Krakow.

But Trabzonspor director Murat Bozoglu said: "Zurawski is a big disappointment for us. He is not coming here because Celtic have offered him more money.

"There is not much we can do because the player has said he wants to continue his career in Glasgow."

Agent Raymond Sparkes, who represents the Poland international in the UK, believes that Trabzonspor have shifted their sights to another striker.

There is interest from clubs in other countries, but Sparkes is hoping the signs are good for Zurawski to become Gordon Strachan's first signing as Celtic manager

It is a visit for him to find out what he and his wife would be coming to as this is a country he has never visited before," said Sparkes.

"And it is also an opportunity for Gordon Strachan to look into his eyes and see if he really wants to become a Celtic player."

Sparkes, who represents 10 other Polish players, is convinced Zurawski's price tag represents great value.

"He has scored 120 goals in 238 league games, as well as 40 cup goals, which is a better than one-in-two ratio," he said.

"He scored against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu Stadium in the Champions League and also in World Cup qualifiers against England, Wales and Northern Ireland."

Trabzonspor and Austria Vienna have made their interest in Zurawksi public, while big-spending CSKA Moscow are said to be monitoring the player.

"Gordon Strachan has already reacted quickly and one advantage is they have is that the player wants to move to the west," said Sparkes.

"But I am only the player's agent in the UK. He also has representatives in Italy, Germany and Russia and they will be saying to the big clubs there that Celtic have made their move.

"But I'd worry if an Italian or German team came in. They have the money and provide an attractive life."

Zurawski told the Daily Mail: "I will be talking with Gordon Strachan and I hope Celtic will offer me a contract.

"This is a very exciting possibility for me and I hope we can agree something."

Meanwhile, Celtic appear not to have taken up their option of moving for Craig Bellamy, who impressed on loan from Newcastle United.

However, left back Mo Camara, a free agent after leaving Burnley, is said to be on his way to Celtic, having been recommended by former manager Martin O'Neill.
