Although the Oz goverment do spend a massive amount on developing sport in their country (which is why England are sh*t, cause we don't) i don't think Football is their top priority
However, if they do start to back football as much as they do their cricket, rugby and athletics, I can't see any reason why in a few years time (2 - 5) they won't be a recognisable force in world football......... Jonezy |

*slaps General* that really, reall wasn't funny. In 10 years they will be a force to be reckoned with, already with some great players.

no i dont think they have enough world class players to compete at the very highest level. Sure they
may pull off a shock victory now and again but that is the point (its a shock victory!) . When the time comes that that an australian side can win against the likes of Germany , Italy , Holland , Brazil, England or Scotland (sorry only joking!) then they may have a chance but not within 10 years. |

I think given 10 years Australia will be a decent enough force in worldwide football. I'd keep an eye on them, they could end up being quite good.

If would be nice if the Aussie's could just make it to the WC finals, winning
it may be a bit off. Oceania deserve not just 1 , maybe 2 automatic berth's it is after all supposed to be a world cup after all. Just cut /2 spots from Europe, they have too many to begin with. |
