Steve Claridge has been today named as the new Millwall manager. But the new manager will have NO money to spend on new players this summer.

Claridge was told he was the number one choice for Millwall chairman and today described the club as "unique".

Oh my gosh. Claridge is a walking disaster. Did you see what he done at that conference club he was at. He done a terrible job, so bad he got sacked. And now Millwall sign him up, it would be ok if it was a lower league club but a Championship club. Disgrace Very Happy

We had claridge down with us for a few months, did a good job for us, held the ball up well and leon (knight) played so much butter with him up there holding it up for him. Cant say i was a great fan because of his pompey connections but i have a different opinion now, decent, honest, hardworking player.

As the managers job goes, for millwall its a shocking appointment, their fans were going nuts when we beat them 1-0 at our place towards the end of last season, they arent happy and i doubt this will make them any happier.

Possibly another team that could be down in the scrap to stay up seeing as they have no money to spend Very Happy

This will be a disasterous signing, he got sacked from a conference team after poor displays, for me getting him shows a lack of ambition.

I don't agree. From what I have heard the Millwall fans are happy with the appointment with Claridge being an ex player. He has also registered himself as a player at the age of 39 - and he is in tremendous shape for his age. Was a great player, and I believe that he can do a job at Millwall.

Not many top managers in the higher divisions would be able to do much with a non league team if they didnt have the money or players. You cannot judge him on one job. Give him a chance. He may suprise alot of people.

what makes me laugh is that theres no way burnige wanted him instead of burley and gary johnson and martin allen! martin allen was the man for that job hes a top manager but im sure clardige will get a good chance because he was a favourite there as a player, but i think they are a team that might struggle so i hope it doesnt work out for him on the basis they could go down and we could stay up !

Poor decision by Millwall, there surely must be a better manager around than Claridge. All he has ever done in management is win the Dr Martens League with Weymouth and then was sacked the next season after struggling in Conference South.

Under Claridge, I can't see Millwall going anywhere! I predict that after a poor start to the season he'll be out by February.
