Was dreading this draw, its a lose lose situation for Spurs.

If we lose to Arsenal kids it will be embarassing and if we win it will be hollow as they will just say 'oh it was our reserves who cares'

I think the kids will be playing.
Wenger said they'd won at WBA, Everton and Liverpool, so maybe he'd have to think about keeping them for the semi.

Big brew-haha brewing about the ticket allocations, rumours coming about that Spurs are gonna get shafted with a lesser percentage of tickets than Goons get at Spurs.

Pretty much heres whats happening: Quote:

Both clubs have looked for their 15% allocation. Islington OB are zhiting themselves at the thought of 9k Yids at the death star so they're claiming its unsafe. Tottenham OB on the other hand are more than happy to allow 5.6k Tarquins down our place cos they reckon that shower couldn't kick snow off a rope.

We've tried to limit the Goons to the exact % we get off them, they're claiming that because its OB advice limiting our numbers that they should get their full 15% regardless.

Third party called in (Football League) to adjudicate, they've swallowed the Arsenal line. We're getting shafted.

Well the FA (aka Deins old boys network) will announce today or tomorrow what the ticketing allocation will be as Arsenal have kicked up a fuss about giving Spurs the amount of tickets they are entitled to, but still want what they are entitled to at WHL.

Edit: Wahey! What do you know? The FA has changed the rules for Arsenal and allowed them to only give Spurs 5,000 seats at Emirates instead of the 9,000 they are entitled to by the laws of the competition. What a shock.

Now I'm eagerly awaiting this game.

It should be an interesting Arsenal line-up also. Since we have the big game against Bolton at the weekend I'm sure Wenger won't risk playing many First team players.

I think the team who played in the win over Liverpool deserve the chance to start again. Maybe with Senderos coming in for Touré and Merida for Cesc.

yet another excuse for other fans to have a go at Arsenal .....surely if they are entitled to that amount Spurs should have been given the 9,000 tickets . Rolling Eyes

Aye Conner, and if Arsenal cannot fulfill the obligations of the tournament they entered then there should be some sort of repurcussions for them.

Anyway, old news now.

Back to the football!

Spurs reserves beat Arsenal reserves 3-0 on the weekend but Arsenals real reserves werent playing which leads me to believe that they will be playing in this match.

and if they manage to stuff it up Wenger always has the big boys to bring back in the second leg at home to even it up. Sad

Not confident about this one. Crying or Very sad

I dont think it is lose lose situation at all specially not after the 6-4 win the reserves got against Liverpool. All the fuss that was made about it. I think if Spurs can spank the "kids" at WHL then they are in with a good shout of going through.

Spank being the operative word there buddy, the only scoreline that would have me feeling comfortable going into the second leg at Emirates against maybe the full team is 5-0 or greater.

And 5-0 or greater will not happen. Unless a miracle happens and we have 3 players sent off including the Keeper, whilst the Ref gives you a couple of penalties.

We'll give you a great game and no doubt there'll be a couple of First teamers in the First eleven, like Touré & Cesc vs. Liverpool.

I can't even begin to predict the outcome of this match. The Arsenal kids will be trying to impress and they'll be guided by a few of the more experienced members of the team, no doubt. I'm hoping that the atmosphere at WHL will intimidate these lads, but they seem to be both mature and confident, so I'm not so sure it will.
I suspect that Spurs will put out their strongest team possible, although the fact that we have five games coming up over the next fifteen days could force Jol to be a bit creative. As Jono says, the thing that will worry me is if Spurs go a couple of goals up in the first leg and then Arsenal will likely bring out the big guns for the second leg. If we don't lead the tie after the first leg then we'll find it very difficult going to the Emirates, so it isn't a promising situation either way. I certainly think we have a decent chance of progressing to the final, but there's no doubt that it's going to be tough.

Arsenal team should look something like this, in my opinion.

...............
Almunia
Hoyte, Touré, Djourou, Traoré
Walcott, Diaby, Song, Denilson
..........Baptista, Aliadière

Might even see Adebayor included because of his lack of games recently, with Baptista changing to central midfield.

I'm not sure. He basically is at that standard now where he can play & win us a game, and sit on the bench & watch us lose.

But Diaby will start as Wenger has said - which is great news for him and us. Song did very well in the Liverpool game and deserves his spot. Only thing that puts me off that suggestion is that Song & Diaby are similiar in style - as in, more defensive style midfielders. Someone like Merida or Denílson or even Baptista in the middle would provide that attacking side that would balance out the middle.

Plus, Cesc will need to be in tip-top condition to face the almighty Bolton at the weekend in a much more important game. I think Cesc will get the rest he deserves. For safety & for fatigue.

Either way, I'm not bothered. I hope the youngsters get a chance ahead of the First teamers in all positions. And even if you are too strong for us, I'll be supporting you in the final to be honest. I'd hate to see that £190million squad win more silver, whether it be a trophy for 'best diving' or the Carling Cup.

will Martin Jol play his first team though , i would not say it is cut and dried we are already through or Spurs need to win 4-0 or more to have any chance of making the final . The fact we beat Liverpool 6-3 at Anfield is now history but it was just one match and anything can happen in football . I do hope that as it is Tottenham the players will be fired up enough anyway and will not get complacent . I would imagine that Arsene Wenger will not have many of our regular first team players involved tonight as there is the FA Cup match with Bolton at the weekend .

I agree with the team that J-AXE mentioned , it could be another chance for a few youngsters to impress further .

Its two matches Conner Wink

Martin Jol will play a very srong side, if not his strongest possible bar injuries. He has made no secret of his desire for silverware and this is a good chance at some.

Personally I think our best chance of a trophy this year is UEFA Cup, and thats the one I really want but would be stoked with anything else.

Hopefully Jenas is back, we have missed him terribly.

yeah i know , it seems you misunderstood me . I was saying that Spurs would not necessarily have to win by a huge margin in the first leg to have any chance of going through to the final after the 2nd leg at The Emirates ...in football strange things can happen ..ie 6--3 at Anfield . We lost to Wigan last year when on the verge of making the final ....it aint over til its over ..

Cesc is starting, alongside Diaby then. Song totally dropped from the squad - surprising unless he's injured.

Touré alongside Senderos. Otherwise, same line-up.

Hleb, Eboué & Flamini on stand-by on the bench. Smile

Spurs team looks really strong. Will be our biggest test by far in this competition.

Berbatov's skill when he hit the post in the first five minutes was unbelievable. His goal was good but I feel Toure could have stuck his head on it.

Arsenal were unlucky to concede the free-kick that lead to the goal but Huddleston's ball into the box was intelligent.

I think Arsenal will play better in the second half but they should have scored just before the half-time whistle went.
