Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond has admitted that he is keen to sign Weymouth skipper Ben Smith, who has been told he can leave the Conference club.
The Terras have been forced into drastic measures to deal with financial problems at the club, with midfielder Smith being allowed to move on, along with every other member of the first-team squad.
Smith, 28, only joined Weymouth in the summer and has already netted ten goals in 24 Conference outings.
Bond told The Echo: "I would certainly be very interested in taking Ben Smith from Weymouth. He's a good player.
"He scores goals from midfield, he's got bags of energy and is somebody I would like to bring to Bournemouth."
Earlier in his career, Smith enjoyed spells with Yeovil Town, Southend United, Hereford United and Shrewsbury Town.
