A chatbox maybe?

g'day everyone I was just browsing through the forum and I saw Big Jono was online and it made me remember about that topic that was started a while ago when everyone was just chatting and I thought well wouldn't it be easier with a chatbox? I know that alot of people will say no because it will become a "spambox" and will take up space but I have seen chatboxes that you use usernames and passwords for, you could put in a special forum that is members only and you could make it a pop-up so it sits in the bar at the top of the site, either in line with all the links or maybe below it? What do you think?

I've seen them before and they work alright. The only problem is that they take away from posting as people just chat in their all day.

I know what you mean but it is basically used for chat not for discussions, I don't think alot of people will frequently use it either as it doesn't have a post count. People will only use it for "chit-chat" and greetings maybe.

It never works. I've been to many forums and everytime people asked for a chatbox
and it has been added, it was never popular.
People prefer to post as their word stays for others to read this way
and if they want to chat, they use msn / yahoo etc anyway.

yeah ...i dont know for what reason you would log on here and then just want to chat ...ie say `hello` or `whats up` ..etc , as Agent Smith said you have msn or yahoo to do that . I know it was just an idea being put forward but i dont think it is necessary for this forum really ...

No. Insults would be sent through it to eachother and we couldn't moderate it.

Yeah I see what you mean, it was a bad idea, but just so you know Forev. they can be moderated, you can delete posts, ban IP addresses or usernames etc etc. Can someone lock this topic please?

Yeah, I wasn't rubbishing your idea mate, by all means come up with these ideas. It's all for the benefit of the forum clearly. It's just it would be out of the way and there would be too much risk for insults.

Keep it up, the more feedback the better.

If you wanted to set up a chat room outside of this, as a sort of off shoot for people of this forum to have a chat and a bit of banter after games and such, it would be fine. Would be quite good if people used it.
