The draw for the first round of the Carling Cup will be made on Tuesday, 28 June at 0700 BST.
The 72 Football League teams are split into northern and southern sections. Clubs finishing 12th or higher in League One last season are seeded and will play against an unseeded team in round one, on 23 or 24 August. The 12 Premiership teams not competing in Europe join the competition in round two, with the European participants entering at the third round stage. The Football League recently confirmed that the 2006 final will be held at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. NORTHERN SECTION Seeded clubs: Bradford, Burnley, Crewe, Derby, Doncaster, Hartlepool, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Preston, Rotherham, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke, Tranmere, Wolves. Unseeded clubs: Barnsley, Blackpool, Boston, Bury, Carlisle, Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Grimsby, Lincoln, Macclesfield, Mansfield, Oldham, Port Vale, Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Stockport, Wrexham. SOUTHERN SECTION Seeded clubs: Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Bristol City, Cardiff, Coventry, Crystal Palace, Gillingham, Ipswich, Luton, Millwall, Norwich, Plymouth, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Southampton, Swindon, Watford. Unseeded clubs: Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham, Colchester, Leyton Orient, Milton Keynes Dons, Northampton, Notts County, Oxford, Peterborough, Rushden & Diamonds, Shrewsbury, Southend, Swansea, Torquay, Walsall, Wycombe, Yeovil.
