He played for Boca last year on loan and guided them to the 2007 Copa Libertadores title.
I remember reading somewhere earlier this summer that he told Boca to buy out his contract with Villarreal, and if they did so, he's play a year for free.

Riquelme On His Way To Boca Juniors According to reports from the Spanish press Villarreal came to an agreement for their playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme to return to Boca Juniors of his native Argentina.
Villarreal director Llaneza travelled to Buenos Aires on Monday, and will arrive at the Argentine capital on Tuesday with Villarreal’s accountant Miguel Perez.
The Spanish club have announced that the deal could be confirmed after their brief reunion with Boca Juniors president Pedro Pompilio later on in the day.
Last week both parties came to a verbal agreement over Riquelme returning to the South American champions, but soon afterwards the player halted further talks because he hadn’t come to an agreement with Villarreal over pay.
Riquelme, who has been in outstanding form for Argentina in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, did not turn out for Villarreal at any moment this season, because of a row with the club’s directors, and with team manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The conflict began in late 2006, when Riquelme asked for an extended Christmas holiday in Argentina. Pellegrini questioned his loyalty to the club, and soon neither of them could see eye to eye. |
