Former Shelbourne star Richie Baker has signed for Drogheda United.
The 27-year-old has signed a two-year deal and will team up with his new colleagues at the Drogs' training facility at Mosney later this week. Baker won four league titles and the FAI Cup during his spell with the Dublin side, and is looking forward to a new challenge with the Louth side. 'The ambition at Drogheda is unbelievable, everyone you talk to at the club is so positive and it's really great to be joining a club with such ambitions and plans,' Baker enthused. 'On a personal level I have come here because I want to win more trophies and to emulate the great European experiences I enjoyed at Shels.' Paul Doolin admits that he is likely to be the final addition to the United squad as they prepare for the season ahead. 'The players that I have brought in this year will add another layer of confidence to what already is an exceptional squad of players,' Doolin said. 'I have been watching Richie at Shels for years and he is undoubtedly one of the League of Ireland's most exciting talents. 'Richie is a winner and his positive style of play gives me the options any manager would hope for in the long season ahead.' |
