Full-back Steve McMillan has signed a new two-year deal with Wigan.
"It's great news because he will be a key part of our squad," manager Paul Jewell told the club website. The 29-year-old has struggled with injuries since moving south of the border to the Latics from Motherwell four years ago. "This is an exciting time for Wigan and I wanted to be part of it. Playing in the Premiership is the ultimate test and is a dream come true," he said. "As a professional footballer that's where you want to be - at the highest level possible. "Every player wants to play against Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, and Chelsea at home is an incredible start, especially for the fans." Jewell is confident McMillan's injury woes are a thing of the past. "Injuries have hit Steve's career, but hopefully that's behind him now," he added. "He can play in the Premier League, I'm certain of that, so I'm just chuffed he has accepted our offer." |
