Cork City have today agreed a fee with Cobh Ramblers for the transfer of 21-year-old defender Darren Murphy.

Murphy has agreed a two-year full-time contract and joins former Bohemians ace Gareth Farrelly, who agreed a deal with Cork yesterday, at Turner's Cross.

Murphy said: 'I am delighted to be joining Cork City and it is a realisation of a dream on my part to become a full time footballer.

'I fully realise the demanding task that lies ahead of me as I join what is to me the best football club in the country,' he added.

City boss Damien Richardson added: 'Darren is another fine performer who proves conclusively the quality of young player available in the county of Cork and the province of Munster.

'This is a clear commitment from myself and Cork City Football Club in improving further the fine tradition of developing young talent at the club,' he told www.corkcityfc.ie.

Meanwhile Richardson is still hopeful of landing former Irish international Colin Healy, after offering the player a contract at Turners Cross.

'After further conversation with Colin Healy I am keenly awaiting his final decision, and also I have two more lads spending a couple of days at Cork City with a view to them joining the squad,' Richardson said.
