i've read that he had a proposition to coach Australia, and he could coach Lyon in the same time.

Yeah his name is cropping up yet again, I'm not a fan of the dual role as a long-term thing (Hiddink was different, it was only ever short-term and done out of desperation). We need a full-time coach and I'm sure there are plenty of good ones out there who'd be happy to commit 100%. From what I've heard it would be contingent on him committing to it fully after a period of time though.

omg bring on the houlier man - all i can say

I can confirm (truthfully) Houlier is going to accept the agreement, in the next 6 months, from some time now until post Asian Cup.
Even if he accepts now it will not come in till after Asian Cup, and fat arnold is interim till then.
So fukn glad this is gonna happen - BTW as i said it will

stupid arnold gonna take us back to the Farina days.
stupid guy wearing Aussie tracksuit - FARINA DAYS = NONONONONO
Graham "wannabe farina" Arnold.

neway, got that off my chest

this deal will happen, the french man is coming in.

i don't think it's a bad thing for you that you had a "half time" coach, because you can have the best coach like that. And Austalia with Hiddink had almost eliminated Italy, it's no luck. Hiddink had made a good work for me. Cool

I agree on Hiddink, it was masterstroke at a time when we were desperate and I've always thought he was one of the very best going around. But I would have a problem with a part-time arrangement now when we've started to establish ourselves a little more, are part of a strong federation and have plenty of time to build towards the next WC.

If it's Houllier then great, but I'd be disappointed given the different circumstances now if he stayed on with Lyon also. It's a huge job as it needs to encompass more now than what Hiddink's job was which was all about the short-term goal of getting to Germany by working his magic.

well my source has told me that maybe Houlier might not be the man.
however, he did 100% assure that we are gonna get a big name coach.
He did also add that in his opinion tho Houlier would be the man, even tho he went back on his assurance - he added how hes still confident it will happen and only backed on his assurance because of something he said, i dunno what it was - something to do with FFA.
but yeh, disregard that last bit, houlier in, big coach at least.

Jacquet's name was linked to the technical director role a couple of years ago, but only because the Players Federation brought him out here to run some seminars and then tried to bully the FFA into talks with him but neither party was overly interested.

Most of our top players are overseas, mainly in England. There are some fringe players as well as the youngsters for tomorrow playing in Australia.

This thread has lists of some of the Aussies playing overseas.

i ask you this question because i think that it's a problem, and it is not a problem. Very Happy

It's a problem because if you want full time coach while your players are in England, it's difficult to have a full time coach if the players don't come back often to Australia, because Australia is far from Europe.

It's not a problem i don't know the level in the Australian championship, but in England the level is good. So you have good quality players and a full time coach or half time coach it's the same if your players are in England. No ?

I don't know if you will understand me Very Happy , it's hard for me to explain it in english. Very Happy

No I understand what you mean and I take your point, it's valid. But my reasoning is more that because we have players everywhere playing in different styles of football and different levels of quality, a lot is required to get the best out of what we have.

It can work (after all it did with Hiddink), I can't argue with that, so no it wouldn't be a big problem. However I would prefer a full-time coach so we can get the most out of what they have to offer especially long-term.

yes i understand that you prefer a full time coach, it's more serious. Wink

Aimé Jacquet begin to coach France in 1994, we had done a good euro 96 but we win the world cup in 1998, 4 years of work. It's long if you want to win a beautiful thing.

what weather have you in winter in Australia ?

i ask you because the next world cup take place in winter, South Africa is in the other hemisphere like you. Cool

Houiller coach of Australia ?
