as Steven Gerrards agent today states that contract talks have stalled and look unlikely to begin again Benitez may have told a spanish newspaper that he would sell Gerrard.

Chelsea and Real Madrid are the top two interested with the price set to be around £30-£35mil.

Where would Chelsea play him?? Surely him or Lampard will not be sitting on the bench, therefore, Makelele would be the one possibly losing his place in the team. I can't see him going to Chelsea to be honest.

Would be an Ideal buy for United now, but I cant see them being able to afford the asking price, so that leaves Real!

They have made a big signing every season, and this is this seasons big name buy.

so much for Gerrard quoting on tv "how can i leave after that" after Liverpools Champions League triumph. If it has come down to money again causing the problem then it just goes to show players are becoming more greedy each year.

You will see in the 9 days whether he will be staying or going. If you remember, Owen was on the Bench for Liverpool at the beginning of last season and wasnt used for the pure fact that they didnt want him cup tied if they were selling him. They will do the same with Gerard if it comes down to it.

They would not risk him there for another year I dont think as after that, his value will depreciate. At the moment they will get a full asking price for him. Its either give him the deal or flog him. There is no way he will wait another full season.

Liverpool have confirmed they have rejected a bid from Chelsea for captain Steven Gerrard.
The Stamford Bridge outfit tabled their offer for Gerrard last night but the Reds are desperate to persuade their inspirational midfielder to remain on Merseyside and had no hesitation in turning down the offer.

"I can confirm we have had a bid from Chelsea and that it will be rejected by us," said chief executive Rick Parry.

Other Bids will be rejected beacuse we want 2 keep him

Reckon a bid of about 40-45m will be enough for Liverpool to sell out...

thank you for the change back (sort of, nice to know you appreciate my input)

anyway breaking news i heard this like 1 minute and 48.5 seconds ago. Stevie G HAS put in a transfer request.

if Real Madrid put in a bid slightly less than Chelsea's would they accept because they wouldn't be selling to a premiership rival also?

stevie G(reedy) has also reportedley turned down a 100K a week contract.

i'm a united fan and i know what judases Rooney Smithy and Rio are, and of course Sol Campbell at the Arse. but if Stevie G does leave then he'll be a bigger judas than the rest of them put together.

"if we win the CL i'll stay" "how can i leave after a night like that" Judas

S G needs to be transferred immediately as he's guaranteed not to be left on the bench when LPool play TNS, he'll be needed on the pitch!!

Something I noticed on Liverpool FC official site:

"Rick Parry has this morning revealed that Steven Gerrard has changed his mind and committed his future to Liverpool FC. More to come shortly."

Now Im confused. Did he just want to see fans reaction if he decided to leave?

you can hardly blame Sol Campbell for leaving Spurs when he did , he wanted to be at a club that could win things and you cannot say Spurs could guarantee him that.
