As all Newcastle fans know we have struggled with injuries this year, well as we usually do!
With senior players out It has given our "kids" a chance! Considering their age, and the state of the team they are coming into! they have done well!

Newcastle United youngster Paul Huntington is expected to put pen-to-paper on a new deal which will see him stay at St James' Park until 2010.

Huntington has come through the academy and has done quite well this term, we do have a good youth system at NUFC, unlike other teams such as Chelsea!.

Another youngster I greatly admire Is Canadian "kid" David Edgar, he has done well in the few games he has played in! I think he is ideal at left back ATM..he should of played against Alkmaar!

Other youngsters who look promising and have done well should be given new deals are Matty Pattison and the big lad who has been banging them in for the academy, Andrew Carroll!

The question I put to you Toon faithful!

Should our current crop of youngsters in the team be given new deals, and extended runs in the team, or should we demote them back and sign some new players?

we should definatly keep the youngsters. give them a few more years and they should be fighting for a first team place, depending on who we sign between now and then.

we have some promising talent coming through our youth team. the names that stick in my head are edgar, huntingdon, krul, carroll, troisi, pattision, o'brien.

taylor is still only 20/21 but has already established himself in the first team.

but definatly give them new deals, and when neede,d give them run outs in the first team. this will give them the experience they need to become better players.

Definately sign the youngsters. All the players that Tom mentioned should be re-signed.

One with the big future i believe is James Troisi. The young Aussie has been scoring good goals for the reserve team and now trains with the first squad. Under the guidance of Owen, Martins, Dyer etc he can only get better.

I think most would be happy to stay as well. We've seen first hand this season that our squad can become very thin. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future if they hang around.

Im glad to see the youngsters coming through and i think they should definately be offered new deals. Its just a shame that with so many promising young defenders coming through we don't really have a quality, seasoned and experienced defender they can learn from.

That's why we need to do our best and try and bring Woody back to Tyneside.

New RB --- Woody --- Tayls - New LB

Woody plus an RB and LB need to be our off season priorities.
