I would agree with that. But when he went Scholes did start dictate the pace & he was are best player. But Gattuso before he went off he was absolutley amazing just never stopped. Nesta was amazing also. & Seedorf had a good spell. Other than that Milan did not have much to offer. |

he says it cos he is biased, the only person on here so far to say Ronaldo played well. What Ronaldo did do was break quickly to ease pressure on United which is what we have come to expect, but apart from one great bit of skill to nut meg Gattuso and the goal, was quiet for him!
At the beginning of the game i must admit i thought Seedorf looked average, but as the game matured so did he. Played better as game went on as did Milan. United were on top when attacking, leaving Milan with no time on the ball. Fletcher impressed me by constantly hurrying AC players, which is also what Rooney did in the 2nd half, great display from him in the 2nd half! He was everywhere, and played for the team, more than can be said than ronaldo sometimes. 2 goals were his just reward i feel. Make shift defence or not, Kaka scored 2 quality goals! Rio or Vidic would have struggled to stop that first one. The way he got the ball in such a position at such pace to get away from heinze was class! Had Rio and vidic been there, the 2nd may have been prevented, but he showed great bravery and finished brilliant. 1 negative thing though, he does like to shoot doesnt he, blimey! Thought Lampard had taken the field. Sometimes the better option was to pass, but instead shot from 35 yards, but maybe was to put pressure on VDS? End of the day, great game, well officialed, and set up nicely for the 2nd leg. |

Its simple. Ronaldo got found out. Yes Milan did have 2 players on him for most of the match but he had alot of 1 on 1's with Oddo & Oddo won every single one. |

I can say I enjoyed a lot this match!!

indeed, it does happen against the better defenders for him, they watch the ball more rather than the feet, and he can struggle. With time he will no doubt get better but at mo tonight proved what we all knew (apart form someone) against the VERY best, he cant do it consistantly YET. and Marco, i know its hard when 2/3 players are marking you, but Messi seems to cope quite well |

Yeah Kaka's goals were good, but he was quiet for the rest of the game. United play on the counter and Ronaldo lead's this nearly every time.
Ok, he was tackled more than usual but so many times he ran towards the corner leaving acres of space for Carrick and Scholes outside the box. That's y United had so many chances. Sky Sports rate him 8/10, nuff sed. |

Kaka was anonymous in the second half. He scored 2 great goals but faded as Gattuso went off and Carrick and Scholes took charge of the midfield. Ronaldo wasn't at his best tonight, but still had Milan panicked enough to create space for others. Everytime he got the ball, at least 2 players went to him and when they couldn't stop him, a third had to come in just in case. |

Im not saying Ronaldo's a bad player, not by any means but im really getting fed up with all the hype. Pele was asked this week if Ronaldo is the best player ever and it really annoys me. Hes played well once in a big match, against Roma when the whole team was excellent, other than that hes been found out against every top defence he's played against, people like Scholes & Rooney stood up when we had our backs to the wall tonight and turned the game but Ronaldo did nothing.
Im not criticizing Ronaldo, im just annoyed with all this hype calling him the best player ever.. |

Just proves my point even more. People just belive what the media tell them to believe. |

Very good point. Big factor in the game, Carrick & Scholes worked very little until Gattuso was gone. Brocchi had a 'mare. |

I looked at that after u all went off on one! SparkyMark knows the score. U all seem to think it's what Ronaldo did with the ball at his feet. There's more to footy than that. |

Totally agree with this post Marco |

But Ronaldo wasn't passing at all, there were too many occasions in which the pass was on but he ran down the wing and was surrounded and dispossessed. He was nowhere near his best though he wasn't bad. He could have mucked in a lot more when we were under the kosh.

marco, just stop digging that hole. Actually keep digging a few miles deep, jump in it and stay there.
Ronaldo had a decent game. Some decent runs, some decent efforts & injected pace into the attacks. He's nowhere near as good as Kaká at the moment either. As Conaldinho said, Ronaldo has been continuily found out against the better opposition. One on one, Oddo had Ronaldo in his back pocket. Ronaldo got no joy against Jankulovski either. The same for all the big games Ronaldo has played this season really. The great players will deliver on the big stage & not be dominated by half-decent players. |

Exactly, I can see what Marco's saying but although he was making space for people, he didnt pass to the players in space. Every time he went into the corner, he did a few stepovers and got disposessed

Good post. My thoughts exactly. He has contributed alot to United this season & has been very good most games. But when people start saying things about that are not true it gets on my nerves. The british media shows all the good things he dose but they dont take any notice of him when he dose something bad. And now people are comparing him to people like Best & Pele. Thats disrespectful to those players who had to work hard there whole careers to build the reputations they have now. |

C. Ronaldo is not a bad player but for me C. Ronaldo is a "dancer", when Zidane "danced" with the ball, it was for something, there is a result after that, and it did it in that shy way when it was necessary.
C. Ronaldo dances for nothing only to impress the supporters, and it is just a "dance". He's young, he can change with time because he is not a bad player. He can become a legend. |

agreed, for me as i have said many times before he does seem like he is in it for himself. An example of this is when he sets up a goal, he celebrates on his own, expecting others to come to him, instead of celebrating with the rest of the team and the goal scorer.
Marcoo, i understand where you are coming from. What Ronaldo does offer United is basically a rest bite, where if they are under the cosh, they give him the ball and he will run with it, draw out the opposition and gain territory, but hw only did it a few times today, and not to great affect. Sometimes the simple pass will be the better option for him. Kaka did go a bit missing in the 2nd half, but was always a threat i feel. He was always in goal threatening positions, even when went a bit quiet. I thought in the first half especially Fletcher played better than Carrick and SCholes. would anyone agree with that? |

Media? Or panel of ex-professionals? I think you'll find SkySports ratings are given by whoever watched the game from the team and then transferred to the website. I'd rather listen to people who played the game at a professional level than somebody on a messageboard to be fair. Ronaldo did more tonight than you give him credit for. Ok, Scholes and Rooney dug in and did some donkey work, but we all know thats not Ronaldo's style. He'd rather drag 2 or 3 defenders all over the place, turn them inside out until they nearly fall on their arse and then slip it to someone like Scholes on the edge of the area. A provider doesn't need to actually make killer passes all the time, he just needs to make sure the people who put the ball in the net get enough time and space to put it there. |

Yeah Fletcher was surprisingly good tonight, he never stopped running and always put pressure on Pirlo & Seedorf. He was good with the ball too, usually his passing is terrible but I have to say he did really well tonight
