well I guess Kaka really underlined his skills last night and I have to admit I was really impressed with both his goals. As mentioned by the announcers, I think AC did take their foot of the peddle in the second half and unfortunately, it costed them. I think Rooney's second goal was luck but his first one was pretty darn good...he kept a low profile during the entire game and then ignited at the end...
As for AC, what in the world were the other strikers doing during that game...Seedorf had a few good touches, Gilardino underlined why Italy is such a crappy team in the world cup(my theory is that they paid off the ref to win the cup...Australia had knocked them out IMO). Hopefully, AC are able to pull themselves together to cause damage to Man U in the 2nd leg. Not a Man U fan, but I thought Fletcher had a really good game and the same can be said for Heinze. |

Yeah Rooneys second goal was just lucky. How can u say that???

it was a class finish, he new exactly what he was doing. He saw where the keeper was positioned and inch perfectly hit the bottom corner. Great goal, no luck involved!

Exactly. It was a moment of vision and precision. How many players would have run that a little bit further and then tried to either hit it when the angle was too tight or just taken too long over it and got robbed by the defender? Saying that, he's right about Fletcher. One of the best games i've seen him play. Not sure about Gabby tho. Couple of times he just looked a shadow of how he was before his injury problems. |

Phew for several scaring minutes I thought Milan would scape with the victory or 2-2, which would also be a great result. But thanks to Dida (again) Man Utd won it. They played very well during the whole game and I have to say that the draw would have been the fairer result. If it wasnt for Gattuso's exit things could have been worse. Now United can do their favourite type of game and use Ronaldo's speed to hit Milan on counter attacks. But please guys, stop saying that Ronaldo is better than Kaká or has played better than him, thats complete absurd. Kaká showed again that hes the best player of the world today (followed by Ronaldo)

Stayed up for this game this morning and glad I did, what a cracking game!
Some great football and skill from both sides, the second leg is set up perfectly. Kaka was awesome, Rooney too. I couldnt help but think, what would SAF give for Kaka to be at United next season? |

Don't be stupid, ur thinking of Chelsea. Both of Rooneys goals were far batter than Kakas. Kakas 1st was good, but blame our defence for the 2nd, terrible. |

Just ignore him. I hate it when a supporter of the luckiest team in the world calls another team lucky.

I see that Man Utd fans are really confident with the 3-2. But perhaps you don't remember the results of United this season away in the Champions League: lost against Celtic, Copenaghe and Roma. 3 of 5 games lost.

I'm not feeling confident about it. Am considering backing Milan to go through for £30 or so. Then I win either way. |

I'd rather lose the money of course. |

Rooney scored a dramatic goal. but i think in the second leg, Milan will win, maybe 1-0 or 2-0. Gilardino and Kaka will score.

I disagree there marco. First goal was good but Kaka showed real class for the second goal to stick his head into that massive collision and nod the ball on. Evra taking Heinze out completely helped, but Kaka took it beautifully. Still think he faded in the second half tho |

Read alot of people talking up Kaka here, and rightly so the guy is indeed the best player in the world in my opinion, and showed why last night - however I think Rooney deserves more credit than he is getting. Those people who slated Rooney a few months ago for not being able to play against the best of the best proved last night just how wrong you are. Rooney has been in some superb form over the last few weeks. He hasn't had a great season, but he is getting back to his best right now.
He truelly is a fantastic talent, and is World Class in my opinion. Fletcher again had a great 2nd half. Fought for every ball and didnt let Milan settle for one minute. He has really impressed me in the last 2 european games. Just goes to show what he is capable of. Hope we see more of this! Ronaldo - I am sorry but I have to agree with the majority here and say that he got a little gready tonight and didnt play his best. J-Axe, you did mention that Kaka was shooting from 35 yards or so because he can score - but if you have been watching Ronaldo this season, you will see he can also score goals. There were times where Kaka made some poor decisions to shoot from 30-35 yards out. He did not have the "perfect" game like many are saying - and I would say Gattuso was the best player on the pitch before coming off injured. The next leg will be very tough for United, and I am hoping they can go through - although Im not going to be making any predictions for that. It was picked up however that United fans are confident after last nights result - I would say that it is more relief than anything. Going in at half time 2-1 down after taking a bit of a battering, and then to turn it around to win 3-2 is going to get the fans in good spirits. |

Kaka's goal was superb, especially his second goal. I think this season MU is very lucky, they often scored a late goal. Hope the best for Milan.
I still think two players is better than Kaka. First is Francesc Fabregas. He is playing consistent this season(and last season too), great pass(both long and short), and still young. Second is Leo Messi. His goal at Copa Del Rey was superb |

Ok I’ve read through what people are saying I’m not surprised the majority of people hating on Ronaldo, not giving Rooney enough credit and singing Kaka's praises.
In the first half Manchester United were shocking, no cohesion, in attack or defence. The reason I think this was happening is because the back needed some time to settle in with each other, and the attacks were being broken up by rino (who I think was the best player on the park till he got subbed). And yes the first half was Kaka no doubt, having said that had we had a fully fit defence I don’t believe he would have scored either goal, especially not the second. All this rubbish about ohhh he stuck his head and it was so clever is utter bullsh1t, if Evra didn’t take out Heinze completely Kaka would not have scored, however it was a very well taken goal as in the finish. Second half was clearly Manchester United’s, I still don’t understand how Carrick missed and Dida pulled of a top save from Fletcher’s shot, if only that had fallen to Scholes. When rino was taken off the midfield was totally controlled by Manchester United but I felt that even when he was on the balance of power was shifting slowly but surly, however him going off help undoubtedly. Now on to Ronaldo, No he was not his usual explosive self, but what do you expect when the opposition put two or three player on u. Anyone that has played the game will tell you that if you are up against three it is near enough impossible to break free from the shackles. I’m with Marco here when he say that by doing that Ronaldo helped open up space for the rest of the team, and also its not always goals or assist someone does that makes them great. Onto Rooney I see not many if any have given him his dues, I’ve read on these boards how he cant play against top defenders, however he has scored against teams in the top four of the Premiership, I’ve read how he hadn’t scored since the fenerbace hat trick, yet he scored 4 in his last three games and no one has a positive word to say. Also that pass from Scholes was top draw; I bet if Kaka or anyone in the Milan team had done that the majority of these boards would be creaming themselves and testifying how amazing he is and look at that pass. On Fletcher I love his as player a lot of my friend have said he is useless but I’ve had the same faith in him like Sir Alex and if he plays in the middle he can do just that, I now hope he is given the chance to full play to his potential. Bottom line is Manchester United won, will we go through who knows. But i do know one thing if we score first them Milan will need to come at us and that i when we are most dangerous. |

Watch it again. The little header to nod the ball on for himself is class. Yes, i agree that Heinze and Evra made it much easier by taking each other out, but it was a deft little touch at the same time as that collision that he made to just nudge it on and it's a quality bit of awareness. |

what i will agree with you on AMeer is that i feel due to Media hype, many players suffer a backlash by fans. An example of this are players such as Rooney. I feel fans think it is their obligation to therfor bring the hype around certain players down. That is why people have said Rooney cant do it against the best, when i quite clearly think he can, and he has been showing that.
OWEN_ENG, dont make yourself look stupid by saying Rooney was lucky with his goals. You obviously dont know anything if you say that, as they were perfectly timed goals and executed brilliantly. What we have a tendancy to do is hype up players from other countries as well as we do with players in this country. It happens alot when if players from other countries do something well they are overly praised. Yet when they dont live up to the hype they are defended. An example of this is Kaka the other night. I dont think anyone would question he is probably the best player in the world, yet he didnt have one of his best games, although scored 2 quality goals. As many have said went missing in the 2nd half, yet his perofrmance has still been branded a 'masterclass'. Had Rooney done the same, i can imagine people saying, only played well for 1 half, was selfish with his shooting etc. But as its Kaka, its not mentioned. |
