the final of 2006

West Ham 2-0 up and looking good until we pulled it back to 2-2,then suddenly the Hammers went 3-2 up and held on until the very last minute until Gerrard popped up with THAT goal............the rest is history Cool

Then there was the 1971 final.

Arsenal 0 Liverpool 0 at and of normal time, then Steve Heighway scored for Liverpool early in extra time.

As I live in an area where we used to get get the Liverpool Echo footie pink, I'll never forget the headline - "We did it Heighway" (My Way, with the line "I did it my way" was a popular song at the time.) It was printed before the game finished, obviously.

Shame for Pool that Arsenal won 2-1, and who could forget Charlie George's winner?

Well, most of you here didn't even see it, but, you know what I mean Wink

for me has to be the 1979 cup final ...Arsenal cruising at 2-0 thanks to the wonderful skills of Liam Brady and goals by Brian Talbot and Frank Stapleton with just 5 mins left . Then somehow Man Utd score a late goal , Gordon McQueen and minutes later up popped Sammy McIlroy to make it 2-2 .

But it was not over yet , barely seconds from the end Brady surged down the wing and crossed for Alan Sunderland to slide in the winner ....3-2 , Man Utd were stunned and Arsenal were delirious with joy ...

So probably on a par with the West Ham 2 Liverpool 3 cup final ...but maybe a more dramatic finish in my opinion .

Brady!!! One of my favorite goals ever was by him. I think it might of been against the RS as well. What a curler.

Brady was a professional with Arsenal from 1973-1980, and Stapleton from 1974-1981, making 460 appearances between them Wink

1981 - my earliest memory of Spurs, the mazy run of a bearded wonder in a silver-white shirt.

1983 - "And Smith must score"....could have changed history, but instead Brighton ended up relegated after losing the replay v Man U.

1986 - if I remember correctly Lineker gave Everton the lead against Liverpool.
But second half Ian Rush was in a different league and scored a lovely goal with Pool eventually winning 3-1.

1991 - for obvious reasons, but particularly the semi-final against Arsenal which made it all the more sweeter.

For me, personally, the greatest i've seen was the Liverpool - Arsenal final in 2001. It's always going to be a Liverpool final for me, but i think that was more tense than the West Ham game for some reason (although for a neutral it was definately better).

Was that the game Owen got the winner at the Millenium?
Very Happy I was delighted that day...though it was strange to see your boys in orange & black.
