MANAGER Ken McKenna hailed the Saints’ third title win on the bounce as “the best of the lot” after a 3-2 win at NEWI Cefn Druids clinched the Welsh Premier crown on Saturday.
"To win the title once is hard, to win it the next season is really difficult so to win it three times in a row takes some doing," he said.
"The lads have been fantastic, we had a bit of a dip in the last couple of games, but they’ve shown a lot of character this season.
"We’ve had a few critics, some people wrote us off at the start of the season, but we’ve proved them wrong."
TNS kept the fans waiting with defeats at home to Caernarfon and away to Welshpool, before John Leah’s late goal capped a 3-2 victory over NEWI Cefn Druids at Plas Kynaston.
"We got there in the end, but it was a bit drawn out. I would have liked to have won the title last week, but it wasn’t to be," added McKenna.
Worryingly for his rivals, McKenna admits his side will not be resting on their laurels.
"Barry won the league four times in a row and that has got to be our aim now.
"As a club we’ve got to keep setting targets. First we’re going to take a break and then it's the Champions League and we want to improve in that," he said. |
