What made you become a fan of your team? |
|
I always wonder what reasons fans have for supporting the team they do.
I'm not interested about someone who's been born and bred say, in Newcastle, who became part of the Toon Army, but what about if you became a Sunderland fan instead? Or if you live somewhere with no local big team to support? And why do non-UK fans like a particular UK side (and vice versa)? |

Manchester United
---------------------- Reason is this. I used to watch the international games at first, and loved Mark Hughes for Wales, so I started to follow him. I then fell in love with Man Utd. I still followed him after when he moved to Chelsea etc, but was already in love with United. So that is my story. Cardiff City ------------- Local Team. |

Lovely story. Unfortunate he didn't play for Arsenal then though, we seem to desperately need supporters!

Man Utd: Pretty pathetic but the main reason I became a Man Utd fan was that they were successful when I first got into football. I got really interested in them and im a true fan now
Brentford: My grandparents live there and my dad used to live there so we visited often, I went to a few games and started to like the club |

I support Arsenal basically, because i was born just a couple of miles away from Highbury, itself and my dad was a big fan of theirs, so i got going to their matches at a very young age and it just went on from there and i support Eastbourne Borough, because their now my local team.

Yeovil....
I looked out for Walsall's results before I went to Uni in Bristol but due to lack of transport and pennies the interest went a bit... In Bristol half the people were harassing me to go to Ashton Gate, the other half were trying to get me to Trumpton, and I rebelled!!! My first match was Yeovil v Runcorn in about 1988 and it's all lead from that!!! |

Hey $enior, some of us Gooners remember the lean times!
I lived just over a quarter of a mile from the Arsenal Stadium when we moved to London when I was a kid. We weren't there long, but I was the age when you start taking an interest, and I think the kids at school etc made me a fan before I even I was taken to see my first game (which we lost). It wasn't long before we were back in North Wales and I've been asked why I don't support a team nearer home, with Liverpool, Man U etc being so close. But those that ask that don't understand, do they? |

Well, when I was a wee nipper me da tried to get me to follow Utd. When I was 2 my uncle really started to get me into football. He would play with me in the back garden.
When I understood it more and was a little older he would take me up the lane. I used to get the kits seasons before though. My uncle was orignally from London hence him being a Yiddo. Now I'm more passionate about the team than he is and i'm more in love with the game than any member of my family. |

I am definitely a Liverpool supporter all the way. I haven't missed a game (as i live in New Zealand) and i stay evry day that htere is a football game on that Liverpool are playing even when it is school time so a lot of days are missed out on my class list. I have mainly every poster, 4 scarves, i even have a shirt that has only 1000 copies in the world and it has the Liverpool logo of the Champs League Final-Istanbul 2005 on it with the Reebok sign. I love Liverpool so much man(it sounds a bit corny but you know what i mean) IM A DIEHARD FAN! My favourite players are Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, John Arne Riise and Djbril Cisse. But my most favourite player of all is Michael Owen, i've been following him since his first game to even now at Real Madrid. Sorry for all this chat just like to express myself but i became attached to Liverpool because they were absolutely awesome at the time and still are now but they have had a bit of a slump but you get that in football. |

I AM A Man UNITED FAN BUT I LIVE IN NORTH LONDON!
AND EVEN WORSE MY BOYFRIEND IS AN Arsenal FAN! I started loving Man U in the 80's whilst at Middle school my teacher who was a big Man U fan used to always talk about Man U and we were allowed to decorate our class room in Man U posters etc. All the girls loved Man U, the boys loved Liverpool who were the top team at the time. I fancied Mark Hughes and then Giggs. I dunno how when i see them now though! And yes i get the glory supporter stick as im from London but i have been to Manchester and seen game. |
