Instead, Liverpool retreated again after restoring parity and played the rest of the tie out for a penalty shootout.

Gazza played for Tottenham. You should be called MomoSissoko-LFC. That's Liverpool's flair in a nutshell Wink

You're meant to be a moderator and not going around telling people they can't talk about other teams but their own, isn't that what this forum is for eh? So I suggest you do your little job properly and stick to the topic, Theres a good boy Wink Oh unless of course you're hoping this silly little argument is going to go to pens... Cool

Listen Ben, Mr. Member of the month; I was p!ssed as a fart, but only felt the effects after the match. I saw the whole game sober, and from what I saw, Chelsea were probing and pressing to score whilst Liverpool sat and virtually let the game drift towards penalties, save for the rare counter attack. Don't get me wrong, on chances Liverpool had more, but over both ties, Chelsea were better. Liverpool, save for one speculative effort from Gerrard were hopeless in the first leg. Chelsea were better in the second leg than Liverpool were in the first, no doubt.

Liverpool have done what they did to Milan 2 years ago. Wait for penalties and then win. Fair play but you didn't win the game. Like (my beloved!) Brazil in 1994, Italy last year, the game wasn't won.

You'll win the final in the same fashion, I reckon.

lol, i think you will find we did! Johaldo, you, Billy, and Jose are the only 3 people i have enocountered so far that actually believe Chelsea were the better team.

Yes, Chelsea were the better team in the first leg, but they only scored 1. They didnt make their dominance count. WHo's fault is that? The wider picture tells you that it is therfor only 1-0 at the half way stage. We came out in the 2nd half (in respect of the 2 legs) quicker, brighter, and better! We deserved the goal, and should have had more by half time. Throughout the whole 2nd leg Reina was troubled once.

You say that
Quote:
Chelsea were probing and pressing to score whilst Liverpool sat and virtually let the game drift towards penalties, save for the rare counter attack
well, where was this probing? yes, in the 2nd half they had more possesion, but would you not expect arguably the best team in the world to come out and play a lot better in the 2nd half? But they didnt do much with this possesion did they? THey were constantly harrased by Kuyt, Mascherano, Gerrard, Zenden etc, and never had time to settle. To say we resorted to counter-attacking football is stupid. We had the better territorial possesion, how would that be 'saving for the rare counter attack'? Cech was beaten twice, header onto the bar, and a goal by Kuyt. He also had to make quite a few of good saves from Kuyt, Crouch and Alonso.

Also, Chelsea were very defensive. Makelele pretty much made it a 5 man defence at times, and Drogba was isolated on his own with no chance. When they had set-pieces they commited about 3-4 men into the area, hardly a team going for a win now is it?

And so what if Chelsea did better at Anfield than we did at Stamford Bridge? European football is not like that. Its a tactical game as J-Axe said, and Benitez got it spot on. Liverpool went for the win at Anfield. Tired legs from both teams meant the game in extra time some what died out, even though we had the better chances in extra time as well. You say we played for penalties, but in that case so did Chelsea 2 days ago, so did Milan V Liverpool and so did West Ham in the F.A Cup, because none of those teams who we ended up playing in penalty shoot outs ended up trying to attack, attack, attack to stop if from getting to that stage.

Liverpool deserved the game, don't no if they deserved to go through taking the first leg into acount but it's done and i don't feel we did enough overall. Maybe i may be wrong but in Europe Liverpool are better than us. I fear Liverpool more than any other club. In a way i hope Liverpool get beat in Athens but thats my bitter side.

Well done the Liverpool.

Keep laughing Momo, but you'll never win the premiership playing this way Wink

Mourinho is right, Liverpool are a cup team. Three seasons that that slaphead has progress Liverpool in the league. 5th (below Everton , 3rd and now 3rd or 4th again. Nowhere near winning the title. You can cry that you haven't had Chelsea's spending power, but why are you finishing below Arsenal's kids? Or Everton 2 season's back? Man Utd? Why? And besides, you try to take the moral high ground that you haven't been bankrolled by a Russian oligarch. So I expect Rafa's going to keep of that Yankee cash in his wallet this summer? Hypocrites!

Who gives a rats ass, since Rafa has been in England we have reached 4 cup finals and won 2 and have a chance to win our 3rd,so keep saying all you want about the prem, our time will come but for the time being we are enjoying Champions League and FA Cup finals while you and Billy are having to scrap for a UEFA Cup spot, you're trying your hardest to be a clone of Billy mate, keep it up if you want to go that way

what you on about? We're not trying to take any moral high ground! just speaking the truth! We havnt had the financial backing Chelsea have, and done alright. And if Chelsea want to spend £500 million just for the League Cup then fine by me! I dont think any other manager would have progressed Liverpool further than Rafa has. 2 CHamps League finals, 1 F.A Cup, improving in the league every year (performance wise). You have to remember, he inherited an awful team and squad. So many rubbish players. He has had to stregthen nearly the whole team and nearly start from scratch with a limited budget. Not bad taking that into account. I believe with the help of the money, a few key areas will be improved and we will have a better season in the league.

You are right, we could be seen as a cup team, but im sure things are improving. When did we finish behind Arsenals kids? We finish behind United cos they are better than us!W e finished behind Everton 2 years back cos they played better than us in the league, as well as us having an improtant European Cup run! come on, i thought you were smarter than that! Rolling Eyes Hope that answered those questions.

haha why are bluenose and Johaldo8 chatting poo? first off we didn't play for pens simply because we looked like the only side that was trying to score in extra time and even had the ball in the back of the net. Chelsea where the ones waiting for the pens, they had a corner in extra time and put 4 players in Liverpools box, they was more scared of gettin caught on the break than trying to score the selfs.

why bring the league in to it? we not the best in england never mind europe and any Liverpool fan that says we are needs there head testing. ye we finished behind Everton but that was in rafa's first season and was left with players like diao and cheyruo who can't get in to a 3rd rate side so what do you expect? but rafa used his tactical knowledge so we could win the european cup which goes to show we can beat anyone on the day but the same goes for aldershot or chester

anyway im going to stop now because im chatting
