We are in the European Cup Final whether you both like it or not,ok we won on penalties but what is your point? do you honestly think any of us fans care how we got there lol,the exact same happened when we won the treble of cups in 2001 when rival fans said we won by playing boring football, but of course once again we didn't care because the trophy cabinet was always filling up while you lot were moaning just like you are now,i can safely say that any Liverpool fan would love to win on penalties every time if it meant we were crowned kings of europe.. Stop the moaning because if your teams had any slight chance to do the same you lot would be over the moon, and you would be bragging all over the place.. |

I understand where you are coming from Johaldo but to say we are consistantly seeking to win on spot kicks is simply not true. Where were we looking to beat Barcelona on spot kicks? Or how about against Chelsea and Juventus in the build up to the 2005 Champions League final? I just feel you are being highly critical, and not giving Liverpool enough credit. In extra time, both teams in that situation get tired, and are on a knife edge not wanting to make mistakes, therfore they dont commit as many people forward, you know that. By saying that we are the team that when it comes to extra time, we just sit back and wait is simply not true. In F.a Cup and Champs LEague West Ham and Chelsea did as little as we did, if not less at getting another goal. We have beaten some of the best teams on route to these 2 finals, and only once on penalties in the build up, and 2 including the final. 2007 - beaten Dutch, English and Spanish Champions to get there. 2005 - beaten Juventus, Barca, Milan. You dont do that by just holding out for penalties all the time.
do you really think that once we had the 3rd goal, that we would wait another hour, just for penalties? half hour left of the match and then another half hour for extra time. I think you are being naive. There is no way that Rafa would have known that we would have been that good at spot kicks in his first season, under so much pressure. I agree that we might have pushed further after getting the 3 goals, but at the end of the day, why risk anything? Rafa got it right, we won, end of story. By soaking up what AC had to offer it left us with the option to hit them on the break. I can admit that we can play some awful football at times, and we can play negatively, especially away from home in Europe, but we can equaly play some amazing, free flowing attacking football as well, which we nearly always do at home. Dominated United, Chelsea there. I will agree with you that we are a cup team, which has to be addressed. Not good enough, but it sure cushions the blow getting into 2 Champions League finals in 3 years. plus if you wanted to see the stats from the first leg here they are. Chelsea Team Statistics Liverpool 1 Goals 0 1 1st Half Goals 0 4 Shots on Target 4 9 Shots off Target 8 1 Blocked Shots 1 1 Corners 5 9 Fouls 19 5 Offsides 2 0 Yellow Cards 1 0 Red Cards 0 70.0 Passing Success 78.4 18 Tackles 25 38.9 Tackles Success 64.0 45.5 Possession 54.5 39.2 Territorial Advantage 60.8 At the end of the day, Chelsea did not do enough to beat us! They did not deserve it, or play better, and that is shown via the name of the club on the tickets for the final in Athens. |

You dominated Chelsea and United at home in the league, but free flowing football it definitely wasn't, calm yourself down Ben! Only two English sides are capable of playing free flowing attacking football in the Champions' League and Liverpool (and Chelsea) ain't one of them. I don't know what you want from me; I've already said Liverpool have had a fantastic European record under Benitez and that I reckon you'll win the final. I just find your style of play very negative, and if there is a God he'll give Milan the luck to win (they've got all the skill). A victory for Milan is a victory for football. |

lol, fair enough.
All i want from you is to admit is that we deserve to be in the final. I accept all this rubbish about AC Milan winning the trophy is a 'win for football' but i cant accept you saying Chelsea were the better team over the 2 legs, cos that simply is not true. They had the first leg won, we had the 2nd won. I just think you should give a bit more credit to Liverpool, but i dont think you are going to give it, so fair enough. P.S - i wasnt trying to say it was free flowing football against United and Chelsea, but we can do it and we play some very attractive football at home. We are not always negative, i was just making that point. |

I don't think you did deserve to be in the final. Honestly, I think with all the advantages you had over Chelsea (fresher legs, injuries to Chelsea, playing 2nd leg at home with THE CROWD For me, Chelsea and Milan have been the two most impressive teams in this season's Champions' League. But that's history now. Your last point, I'm not saying you're ALWAYS negative but in general you are. Chelsea are not far behind you in the boring stakes, although when they have Robben and Cole playing they play some nice stuff. |
