Japan midfielder Nakamura joins Celtic from Reggina


REGGIO CALABRIA, Italy (AP) - Midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura joined Celtic from Reggina, becoming the first Japanese at the Scottish Premier League club.


The 27-year-old Nakamura scored 11 goals in three seasons at Reggina, playing in 33 of Reggina's 38 league matches last season. He previously played for Yokohama Marinos in Japan.

Reggina announced the transfer on its Web site Monday, without disclosing financial details.

Nakamura's transfer wasn't completed in time for him to play in Celtic's second-round, first leg Champions League qualifier at Artmedia Bratislava on Wednesday.

Nakamura is Gordon Strachan's seventh signing since he took over as Celtic manager from Martin O'Neill in May. Jeremie Aliadiere, Mo Camara, Maciej Zurawski, Artur Boruc, Paul Telfer and Adam Virgo have already joined.

soon he will be the 1st japanese to leave the spl.when he finds out how easy it is

well 11 goals in 3 seasons with Reginna , he should be able to get that many in 1 season with Celtic.
