Hi meera, why not introduce yourself on the newcomers section?
And do the questionnaire too!
Anyway, welcome, all of us Gooners are starting to love Hleb! Wink

yeah great video and the couple of matches he played in the Amsterdam Tournament showed he has talent and i think he will do well at Arsenal . It has been said that he may be a bit weak but that will be one of the things Wenger will work on with Hlebb , building up his body strength.

Yeh, he's going to be good after what I've seen of the pre-season action.
Only problem at the moment is him not quite knowing what other players are up to, fitting in to the system etc, but this will be dealt with in time.
A lot of this can be attributed to language difficulties. I think the only player he has a language in common with is Lehmann Very Happy

I've seen Hleb play a few times now, quite a nice player with very good offensive skills as well as passing skills. May need to play a bit more defense though, tends to like to stand around after the ball gets lost, although that may be conditioning. Dunn123, please do not confuse Hleb with Vieira, different type players with different roles. He's not going to make any of us forget Vieira, at least me anyways. He's an offensive mid where Vieira was more a defensive mid. But I agree, he has looked like a good signing by Arsene....

Yes Mr oranj, I think A Wenger is certainly not using Hleb as a direct replacement, but I'm sure there will be a re-shuffle if no direct replacement comes in. Of course things will change when Gilberto comes back into the side, his presence was definitely lacking in the games so far, especially after the loss of Vieira.
But there is the possibility of players performing unexpected roles, especially when we're depleted by injuries for instance.

Starting 11??

I'm glad I'm not making Arsenal's line-up card out, because the first 11 is a tough decision. I guess that’s a nice problem to have, and I think only Mourinho has a tougher decision.

I think the last game in particular showed how a couple of changes can turn a game around.
Freddie Ljugberg made a great deal of difference, but you're right there, it must be difficult to choose the right first 11 for any particular game.
Freddie was saying on Arsenal FC Online how fitness is coming into it at the moment; they're looking to get it right for the game against Chelsea and especially against Newcastle in the league.
At the moment "there are a lot of heavy legs" he said. "We're a bit tired still, you can see it sometimes with our passes." Also he said the game will need to be raised against Chelsea.
I hope they do that as I'll be at Cardiff for that Laughing

Haven't seen Chelski pre-season, you seem to get to see more games than we do Sad
The Community Shield will be played in the afternoon (3pm ko), but I assume you know how far on a slow road I have to drive on to get home from the south of Wales to the northern bit where I live - that'll definitely make it a long evening Laughing

on sky sports the other day after the Amsterdam matches the panel were saying what the line up might be for the first league match against Newcastle . This is what they think Wenger will start with ,

Lehman
Lauren
Toure
Senderos
Cole
Ljungberg
Fabregas
Gilberto
Pires
Bergkamp
Henry

Can't see that line-up myself. I think Hleb will be preferred to Cesc, though I'm sure he'll figure as much as he did last season.

Needs 2 Defensive Mid's.......

I think 2 of the defense minded mid's, that is Gilberto, Fabregas and Flamini will need to be on the pitch most of the time. Pires will never be mistaken as a great defender, Ljungberg isn't afraid to chase back and defend, and the jury is still out on Hleb’s complete play. It will be interesting to see how he rotates Bergkamp, Reyes and van Persie.

yeah i think Bergkamp will probably be used mainly in the Premiership games , his fear of flying ruling him out in europe of course. Wenger will want to play Reyes a bit more as he needs to improve his form,
Robin Van Persie will want to put the last few months behind him and i think he will be eased back into the action over the next few months .

saw lots of videos of him play in the bundesliga last year and he was really impressive, in my opinion he was one of the top 5 players in the league, great at going round people, loves going forward and really aware. strength does seem to be lacking a bit but hes got time. i think he could turn into one of Wengers best ever signings but it would have been nice to get an off-the-peg world class player rather than someone with bags of potential to be one though

Hi Luke, nice to see another AFC fan here - why not go public and introduce yourself in the newcomer section (so everyone can see we have yet another Arsenal fan Very Happy ) and do the newcomer questionnaire Question

I dunno about you lot, but I saw Helb get stuck in during the little time he was on in the CS, looks like he's got a good touch too.
