I think it's safe to say that a lot of people aren't happy with
Chelsea and the way Abramovich can buy players at will (except for
Chelsea supporters of course). I hardly read (on this forum) that his spending hurts the game or the EPL. So the question is, if you could have an owner that also was able to buy up players at will, would that bother you or not?
Here in the states all the major sports (baseball, football, basketball & hockey) have 'salary caps', that is a team can only spend X amount of $'s on there team. The reasoning behind this (so they say) is that the owners with lots of $ don't hurt the owners with less $ and the smaller market teams are somewhat still able to compete with the big guys. You still have a few 'Abramovich's' but they can only spend so much. I'm not saying this would or wouldn't work, though am I saying I'm in favor or not in favor of it, but just thought it might be worth a healthy discussion........
