Celtic came within a goal of forcing the game into extra time as they beat Atmedia Bratislava 4-0 last night but went out 5-4 on aggregate in the Champions League qualifier .
Despite goals from Alan Thompson , John Hartson , Stephen Mcmanus and Craig Beattie, Celtic could not quite complete what would have been a stunning comback after being hammered 5-0 in the first leg.
After the match Gordon Strachan said there was a feeling of pride , sadness and injustice at the outcome
and said that the two results combined probably the worst they will ever play and the best they will ever play. Ultimately though Celtic will not be in Europe this season.

I suppose they had done well to get 4 goals, but obviously not good enough to get the 5th.

This will be a big strain on the club finanically.

Although i will say it should have been in the Champions League section in the first place. Smile

I havent seen this result until now. Im glad that Rangers are in the Champions League and Celtic arent even in Europe Laughing I follow Rangers after Villa and hope they will win the Scottish Prem this year aswell. It was very unlucky for Celtic though, they must be gutted!

Its quite amazing that Celtic and Newcastle are out of Europe, but little Welsh teams Rhyl and Carmarthen are currently still in, having a (slight) chance in their second legs. About the same chance as Everton has, in fact Very Happy
