Heart sank when I saw Aluko comin on for Sanderson, lol, poor Aluko. But yeah, Sanderson's goal record speaks for itself, she was bound to get one eventually!
I wasn't too impressed with Westwood and didn't understand Hope playing her in an attacking position when she has been used to defending all season.
Carney was fantastic, barging the czechs off the ball and running around everwhere.
Defending still looks dodgy with Philip making a few mistakes, bit worrying. Thought Johno did well though coming on to replace her.

Game was pretty dull though really, nearly fell asleep at the end, partly to do with the fact that I was watching a recording and it was gone midnight!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the amount of litter on the pitch Shocked Can't people not put their empty haribos packets in their bags Confused Rolling Eyes

Roberts, I agree with you about Westwood and Carney was the best player for England.

I wonder how they'd do with Lianne and Eni on at the same time - any thoughts?

It's an option when kelly is not there, lianne in behind eni with kaz and yanks on the wing.
It is often used at Arsenal with fleets instead of eni.
I don't think the england staff think Lianne is good enough to be honest as they could have started her in NI and here they just removed her after 45 minutes
I am sure there is something in her game that they dislike couple of years ago I would have said she takes too many touches but she removed that weakness years ago.
Granted she is slower than Aluko but who isn't ? Someone at an england camp was told she was too slow and that it was a problem for a center forward.. Shocked so maybe Lianne is judged by the same rule??

Well, they know how fast / slow she is by now. So, if she's too slow why include her at all?

They cannot really ignore someone who scored 40 last season and about 30 this season.
Oops they do it with Anderton who scored more than 30 last season and is about 30 again this season...

In past games I have thought that Lianne looked a bit lazy off the ball, or maybe she has a bad attitude as she can look well stroppy sometimes Laughing

I'm quite liking the idea of Aluko and sanderson, I'm sure sanderson could thread through some good passes to Aluko and tap in the rebounds when aluko misses Laughing
Obviously Smith would be the preference.

Also I wondered why we didn't see Sue Smith, we needed some energy on the pitch and Sue has plenty of that.

She signed a programme for me on last Sunday, and was so stunned by my good looks she was unable to play for a week Laughing

Aluko is missing due to graduation a FIRST class law degree at Brunel University.
This is a fantastic mark indeed, congratulations Eni this is very very impressive.
At least it gives another chance to Lianne to prove she is worth the number 9 spot.

Lianne was picked! But didn't do much, in fact I possibly think that Aluko would have put in a better performance, at least her pace might have scared the German defence, whereas they had Lianne sorted, everytime she got the ball they just knocked her off it. She was substituted in the 2nd half and they ended up with Smith, Carney and Yankey attacking, which I think was better but the whole team seemed to be over tired and the passing was all over the place so it was hard to tell.
We also got to see Sue Smith for a while at the end Very Happy .

Oh dear , 3-0 not bad. Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be.

Lianne needs to pick up her performances then if she wants to picked regular.

I think Sue Smith isn't given enough time sometimes , friendly games would be the ideal time to try out her for 90 mins.

England have still got a lot of work to do then? or just a blip as it was Germany.

Yeah not too bad for an off season game. The germans were the better team in the same way they always are, they were stronger, seemed to think quicker, better pace, better positioning, but hey, they are one of the best! We need to bulk our team up and grow them a few more inches Laughing
Also whenever we had an attack the players seemed to panic and instead of creating a good goal scoring opportunity someone would always muck up.
Times when we looked good were when a player showed some skill and skipped past a german player and occasionally our passing was quite clever and quick, also some of the players were good at going in for a tackle just when it looked like the germans were going to walk all over us, so a bit of fight was definitely shown at times.
In fact Kelly Smith did a last gasp sliding tackle in the box as Prinz was running in ready to shoot, she just managed to catch the ball otherwise it would have been a clear penalty and probably a red card.

Also I don't think the penalty awarded was correct, so it should have just been 2-0.

In big games I think we should use Sue a bit more as she has loads of experience and can integrate the play a lot better than some of the other players, turn more midfield play into attack.
