I'm coming over to Dublin for a week beginning the 22nd August and want to take in a game but don't know the teams or fixtures in/around Dublin so, please, help me.

I'd like:

Fixtures
Dates
Venues
Directions
Costs

and, in the Mission Impossible tradition, your mission should you choose to accept it is to convince me that your team is more worthy of my support than the others!

Im not from Dublin but seeing as hardly anyone on here is, ill give you as much info as I can..

Fixtures...www.eircomloi.ie the link wont work for me but you can see it clearly on the homepage

Dates & venues...again check that site

I cant really help you much with directions or costs but im sure the tickets wont be too pricey

The main clubs in Dublin this season are St Pats & Bohemians so if either of them are at home I'd advise you try to get to a game. Shamrock Rovers are another club having a decent season, the derbies between them & Bohemians are usually incident packed.
Drogheda are another top team nearby, its another city north of Dublin but its only about 15 minutes up the M1from the airport.

So yeah, I dont support any of them and theres not many Dubliners on here so looks like you'll have to make up your own mind!

True but the season will be finished bu then wont it?

If the GAA Championship is still going by late August id recommend you try and get to a game instead of the EL. much more exciting and a much better crowd and atmosphere

Thanks guys, I'm trying to get tickets for the GAA semi-finals on the weekend of my visit, I've seen the hurling down in Arklow but haven't 'done' Croke Park yet. My wife doesn't yet realise that my boy and I are trying to turn it into a sports tour! Is there any horse/greyhound racing on?!

Chopper my old chap - don't go and see Bohemians. I work with a few of their faithful...irritating as fook.

OK - thanks, I guess now this Forum is just for football in the Irish Republic? Not Northern Ireland?

Is there a seperate Forum for football in the north?
