Derry appoint former Hearts boss Robertson as manager |
|
Former Hearts manager John Robertson has been installed as the new boss of Derry City.
The 42-year-old, who won 16 caps for Scotland, has agreed terms with the Candystripes on a initial 18-month contract with the option of a further year. Robertson is due to arive in Cork today to meet up with the squad ahead of their FAI League Cup quarter-final encounter with Cobh Ramblers. He'll take charge of the side for the first time against Sligo at the Brandywell on Friday night. Peter Hutton had been in charge of the Derry first-team on a caretaker basis after Pat Fenlon resigned. City have struggled to replace Fenlon, with Pat Dolan being among those linked with the role, but in Robertson, they have finally found their man. |

I saw Derry go out of the Champs League last night 2-0 to FC Pyunik - it was only the highlights on the news, but from what I could see they were unlucky.
They had a few good chances and hit the bar too - I would say Robertson would have been proud of his Candystripes. |

I didnt see the game but tbh they really should have beaten them. I watched the first leg and they should have won about 5-0, couldnt believe when I heard they actually lost the 2nd leg

Christ that would make the exit more gutting then, I didn't realised they had dominated the 1st leg by so much.

'Pop' is a living legend and given the backing and a bit of time will prove to the Derry supporters what a good manager he is.

I think this says Valdas Ivanauskas has taken over at FC Carl Zeiss Jena in Germany? Hope he does better there than he did at Tynecastle?!
