Kevin Phillips and Steven Davis the goalscorers for Villa. Great debut for Phillips gettimg a goal and an assist looks to be a good capture for the Villa after having a good pre-season aswell. Good to see young Davis getting on the scoresheet aswell im looking forward to seeing him this season, if he carries on where he left from last season he could become a very vital part to the villa team.

The goalscorers for Bolton were Kevin Davies and Ivan Campo.

I'm fairly happy with the result and chuffed with both the scorers, if Davis starts adding a few goals to his game he will be a force to be reckoned with in seasons to come. Would of been even better if Angel blasted a late winner!!

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come with Phillips, he is a proven goalscorer and if him and Angel can produce the goals for Villa, with some of the midfielders chipping in such as Davis, Solano, Barry and Hendrie it could be a very good season for the Villa. But i think we need a few more signings, a defender, creative midfielder and a striker.

Also im hoping Laursen and Mellberg can stay fit for the season because i rate both of them very highly and will be a vital part of the Villa team!

I went to villa today as i'm a season ticket holder and I was quite pleased by the way we performed. However I thought Angel,Samuel and Barry were awful and they all need replacing. But overall the team was impressive, phillips was exellent battled hard,Sorensen was exellent in goal and without him they could of scored five. Laursen was solid best i've saw him play in the second half, did'nt look at bit injured. Aaron Hughes best full back i've saw in years of what i've saw so far. Davis and solano were quiet but i'm sure they will get better. Mellberg was solid in the air and joined up in the attack. Here are my ratings.
Sorensen 8 No chance with 2 goals saved us a point.
Hughes 8 Brilliant defensivley and going foward.
Mellberg 7 Good in air went forward.
Laursen 8 Helped sorensen all game kept defence solid after 2 goals.
Samuel 5 Played awful until last 10 mins when he began to go past players.
Davis 6 Exept from goal never had much of the ball.
Solano 6 Quiet some dissent balls.
Barry 4 Lazy, didn't want ball never had winning attitude.
Mccann 7 Played well injured campo showed Bolton he was there.
Angel 5 Good touches but did'nt have eye for goal he never has a dig WHY!!
Phillips 8 Got stuck in, exellent in air for little man SCORED!!

Its good to hear that the new boys did well, disappointed to hear Barry had a bad game as when he plays well hes very good, but overall happy with the result.
