After their first game West Ham have impressed. They beat Blackburn 3-1 and looked good. They seem to have the most quality to stay in the premiership out of the three that have come up. They have made decent signings such as Konchesky and Benyoun, they have the experience in Sheringham and the youth of Reo-Coker. Etherington on the left looks a good player aswell, i think West Ham have a really good chance of staying up and people like West Brom and other people who are going to be fighting in the relegation battle should take notice of Westr Ham because i dont think they are going to get relegated.

A 3-1 win in their first game after promotion can't be bad Wink

I was impressed by West Ham. Gabbidon looked solid at the back also. It was only a matter of time for him to leave Cardiff for a bigger club. The guy is top class, and will do well at West Ham.

I always have liked Gabbidon. He is a class defender.

Yes they did look good, coming from behind aswell.

Its good to see 2 ex-Spurs boys get on the score sheet, Teddy and Etherington.

I hope the Hammers are in the prem to stay, its where they belong.

Problem is, West Ham take more points off AFC than they reasonably should, and Teddy S scores more than he should.
I bet we lose to the Hammers at leaast once this season Crying or Very sad

yes i thought West Ham played surprisingly well and clearly deserved the 3 points . Teddy Sheringham proved he can still compete at the top level with a nicely taken goal and Reo Coker looks a promising player . I disagree with you though Twmcat about us losing to West Ham at least once this season , we have too much class in out team to let that happen , a draw at best is all they can hope for against us.

I think its dangerous to start thinking like that conner, any team in the premiership can beat any other on their day. Arsenal are nowhere near unbeatable, even for West Ham.

If you do think that, where do you draw the line going up the premiership pecking order? Do Portsmouth have any "hope" of more than a draw? What about Bolton? Spurs? Boro? Man U?

Looking at the starting eleven of all the promoted teams on Sat/Sun i cant understand the bookies giving West Ham odds of 4/6 to finish bottom!!, Sunderland will finish bottom no quality end of, Wigan had there day on Sunday and stiill lost.

Do yourself a favour West Ham will stay up, maybe only 17th but good enough

I'm inclined to agree about Wigan, Andy. They were within a whisker of getting an amazing point but didn't. And all West Ham need to do is stay up. There are several teams who've done quite well after a difficult first season.
And, with reference to comments above, historically West Ham have given Arsenal a tough time when, on paper at least, it's unexpected (FA Cup final 1980 Embarassed for example, and more recent games when we've struggled).

Well they got Newcastle this week, should be a cracking game. Newcastle and espevially Souness have a lot to prove and West Ham will be looking to continue their good form.

i have a running battle about the two teams with a few Karate friends so that is why i am a bit biased against West Ham on this point . Smile Also i didnt say West Ham could not cause us trouble or not score against us , i just believe we have too much quality to let us be beaten by them .

Thinking of your pecking order comment, B J, in an ideal world The Premiership winners will have 114 points, having beaten all teams below them, runners-up 108,....., bottom zero points.
It's never happened or even come close, and it's not just because of battles between fairly equally rated teams, it's because lower-ranked teams know they've nothing to lose, or know they've had good results in the past against their opponents, or even just that the higher-ranked side have an off-day and / or the lower-ranked have a good day.
And, being a pessimistic Gooner, I always expect the worst Rolling Eyes
(Especially against West Ham Very Happy )

Well said TWMAT!
I think West Ham are going to give the gooners a good run for their money but i still think Arsenal are going to edge it 2-1!
