Aberdeen beat Glasgow Rangers in a fantastic match at Pittodrie. The home side took a 2-0 lead through a Russell Anderson header and a Steve Lovell close range finish. Rangers instantly replied though with a header from Dado Prso just 2 minutes later.
Peter Lovenkrands' scored a superb overhead to pull the game level just 4 minutes into the 2nd half. Rangers were reduced to 10 men though when Ricksen was given his marching orders on 55 minutes. The teams looked as though they were about to share the spoils, however Jamie Smith scored an outstanding 25 yard effort to put a dent in Rangers Championship campaign.

Will this 3 points prove costly for Rangers?
With the 2 big teams dropping points so early on, could this years Scottish League be more open?

Have your say.

We can only hope that the league will be closer this year however i fear it wont be. The class and depth of the old firm will come thru over the course of the season.

I dont back up my words here tho cos i support Celtic and go for them every year.

Same here Jono. I dont know what it is though. I know so many people who prefer Celtic over Rangers. I think it was because they were the underdogs for a long time during my childhood. Rangers won the league so many seasons in a row, and Celtic kept finishing 2nd best. It is closer now though, and both teams have terrific battles for the title.

Would love to see more teams join the big guns in Scotland. A successful league will benefit the Scottish National team. I cant remember a time when they were so weak.

i think Gordon Strachan will be breathing a sigh of relief that Rangers can have an off day sometimes . It is too early to say whether this will be a closer race this year but lets hope so .

I usually prefer Celtic as well . Smile
