I see Alan Smith has put pen to paper at Newcastle. He is one player I would have liked to see in an Everton shirt as his versatility makes him a very useful individual to have. I have to say, most Everton targets that have gone elsewhere this summer I have not been all that bothered about, but I think maybe we could have put a bit more effort into signing Smith. I still feel pretty confident about the group we currently do have but I just hope that the lack of effort to sign Smith was Moyesy's decision and nothing to do with an inactive board.

I would have thought Everton would have made more of an effort to get him, strange to say the least looks like another player as passed you by.

Yeah, I mean I hate saying it but I can see why he would have chosen Newcastle over Everton. They have a new manager and a lot of ambition and all the rest of it. The thing that really bothers me is the complete lack of effort seeming to come from Goodison to give Newcastle a bit of a fight for Smith. Like I say, I can only hope it was Moyesy who made the call.
