I can't help you with an explanation of how the FA work things, except to say the have FA in their brains.
Now you're here - why not say hello in the newcomers section |

Unfortunately you're in this position because of financial mismanagement of previous regimes and the underhand methodology of Ken Bates. The FA wanted to ensure that a Company Voluntary Arrangement was in place to repay creditors but this didn't happen so you were punished in the only way a club with no money could be, a points deduction.

Choppers explanation pretty much says it all - apart from the taxmans involvement. The inland revenue refused the offer of 8p in the pound repayment and threatened leagal action to reclaim the whole amount (something close to 5mill) so greybeard folded LUFCplc. Bates has been trying to pull a fast one and 'overlooked' certain rules. So the F.A. in their eagerness to make sure that any financial problems are resolved pro the leeds debtors and have kicked us when we are down instead of helping the club out (the F.A. make sure money wins, it seems, as West Ham have not been similarly punished for cheating. Money makes the F.A. go round...). This scenario could happen to many in the Chamionship as they overspend to gain a foot hold in promotion to the Prem cash cow.
As for Leeds gaining promotion, well - we may be capable if we can overcome the 15 point deduction and find some cash from between the cushions of the sofa. But with so little cash available, would we be able to keep our place in the Championship? Loanees and Journeymen have not the fight for a relegation battle, as last seasons results have shown. We need a big cash input to be able to purchase players of good quality to turn our fortunes around. Our youth system seems to still be in place but; a) - Any promising players will be sold on to produce cash (Rose to Spurs, for example, I've heard) b) - Can we rely on youth players to produce week in week out results when we are in the thick of it? I'll be happy just to get this season behind us in mid table and our board dealings to settle down and start focusing on matters of the pitch. Either that or we will win everything Welome to the Forum, Leeds4life. May it be a happy one! |
