Before the transfer window closes which Target Man Striker do utd have the best chance of getting:

IMO Carew would be a good signing - Maybe Utd could prize him away from Villa - after all they have just signed Marlon Harewood. Maybe Ole Guna can persuade the fellow norweigen to come to Old Trafford.

Berbatov may cost a lot but if he hands in a transfer request maybe his hefty price tag could drop. I'm thinking 15 million....

Another one is Peter Crouch. Maybe he could be a makeweight in the Heinze deal. We might as well get something off the scousers if we're losing a world class full back.

Huntelaar is another one - Utd have been linked with him for quite a while now.

Why would they want to keep spending? They will have no space on the bench anymore.

None. End of story.

United fans are so fickle sometimes.....

We just got Tevez, Anderson, Nani and Hargreaves ffs!

I bet you were criticising Chelsea for their spending before....

We play one match, had 23 shots on goal, dominated the game and their keeper was man of the match, apart from the fact no goals were scored there wasnt much wrong and you always get games like that. Reading had a point to prove as it was first game of the season. We hav Anderson, Nani, Saha, Solksjaer and Tevez to add to the side and that will bring goals. Arsenal, Pool and Chelsea all won but none of them were impressive and all were bloody lucky.

I think SAF messed up, when they had Kitson sent off he should have gone to 3 at the back, he could have even gone with 2 CB's and a deep midfielder

Anelka if any hes in for a long season at Bolton would jump at the chance to sit on the bench at Old Trafford.

1999, you say that there was not much wrong with your play, but what clear opportunities did you create. Not trying to rage you up, nor do i think Liverpool are better than united before you say so, but apart from the Rooney first half chance and possibly the o shea chance you were shooting from long distance. Granted it was difficult to break through, and hec that happened many times for Liverpool last year but, its not all about shots on goal. I think the only team that can play decently and create when teams get men behind the ball are the gooners.
Yes they, too sometimes are held, ie begiining of season last year, but this is only due to there strikers being unable to finish them off. Every other team when fced with men behind the ball struggles to break through. Not saying id be concerned cos i actually think youl win the league, but all im saying is didnt think your perfromance against reading was as good as your saying. Average id say.

I reckon we need one more now that Ole has retired. It leaves us with 3 main strikers - Rooney, Saha and Tevez, and only one is fully fit. Not a lot for the English Champions.

Maybe Berbatov could move - possible. Trezuguet will stay at Juve. Crouch will never wear a United shirt and if he does I will become an Accrington Stanley fan. Carew would be realistic with the amount of money we have spent. He won't cost us as much and Villa could play Agbonlahor and Harewood up front.

Huntelaar's another one. Great player but maybe a bit too much compared to the £55m we've payed this summer.

I don't know if you've watched this season then. For £7 million we could have a world-class striker - better than Robbie Keane anyday

Has the big oaf scored yet this season? Target man? Sure he is, he can run round OT while Fergie take pot shots at him with his shot gun

Laughing The guy has like 5/6 chances a game and they all go wide or over.

It's like he aims to miss.

Micah Richards recently claimed that Carew was the most difficult striker to defend against because of his physical presence.

Martin O'Neill acknowledged that Carew adds a lot in terms of team play and people sometimes seem to forget that. People ignore all the good work he does and just look for the negatives.

I will be very interested to see how Villa do, now that there talisman is out injured for six weeks, very interested indeed.

I wouldn't mind seeing out of favour Jermain Defoe at Old Trafford to be honest ...
