Just got in the door! Got to the game about 15 mins late because of the rush hour Rolling Eyes So didn't see any of Kelly's goals Crying or Very sad Was funny to be back at Borehamwood with not that many people, after the UEFA Cup Final. It was funny seeing Jayne play for the opposing team but she didn't hesitate in any tackles and it was funny seeing Ciara Grant shoved off the ball as well as other Arsenal Players by an Arsenal player Twisted Evil Wink

Well, the game...hmm...was one sided...and I was trying to work out functions on my camera for a lot of it Laughing It was a boring game imo, I thought Leanne Champ was looking in good form, Faye looks mighty quick also Asante is looking strong but there's not a lot you don't already know Wink I can't think if anyone really stood out tbh Confused
Really liking Gemma Davison, she can run extremely well with the ball and hold it up well. Kelly had an average game, not her best, didn't see many off her powerful runs down the middle but she tracked back a hell of a lot and I wasn't sure if it was me but she looked a bit slow at times and could have tried harder on occasions.... Confused

Alex Scott:

Some Wales Player:

Gemma Davison:

Kelly looking at her flippers:

Faye White:

Lianne with the ball:

Agent, your wish for having Spencer on...came true Surprised :

Jayne's car but Ciara got in it Confused :

Oh and I bought that new book 'Three Lions on her Shirt' it was £14.99 not very big but still worth it Cool Wink Also got it signed by a few of the England girls Mr. Green

...forgot to add James Prickett was there so he'll have some more decent pics Wink

Was so one sided i nearly left at half time.

Kelly's first goal was quite funny as she had all the time in the world and just kinda stood still inside the box until the shot was on. The others, bar the penalty, were rockets! I think the first half was much more entertaining than the second but with regards to Kelly not firing on all cylinders, as i have said before, she simply doesnt need to in this league and also is why she is likely to go state side again next year.

Good to see all the girls get a run out but i hope to see some less one sided games next season.

I actually thought it was seven nil but you so tend to lose count lol

I noticed how Arsenal play the majority of their game down one side, i kept wanting to shout SWITCH at them cos i feel if they did this it would obviously open up much more of the play.

New kit looked good eveb if Yanks seemed to be wearing a child sized shirt lol x

Actually Arsenal.com says:

Four goals from Kelly Smith, and one each from Alex Scott and Lianne Sanderson helped the Gunners run out comfortable winners.

Some of the stuff I noted after the game :

Usual 4-3-3 set up, early goals killed the game after 10-15 minutes.
The Welsh team was very aggressive doing a lot of fouls around the penalty area.
Arsenal had two shots who hit the crossbar in addition to the 4 goals in the first half.
England girls are already in good shape and ready for the tournament especially Sanderson who was holding the ball and dsitributing well. She made at least 3 excellent defence-splitting long passes.

When Gemma came to replace her after 20 minutes the attacking system changed completely with a total interchange at horizontal level between the 3 forwards and vertical level with Kelly and Katie alternating in the forward runs while one f the forward would drop in the middle. This is due to the fact that Gemma cannot hold the ball like Julie or Lianne and has to do lateral run with the ball or one touch lay off.

Interesting to remak that Wales did not put any pressure on the ball until the halfway line Shocked I mean allowing Arsenal to play their natural possession game and cut their defence into pieces why ?

Tactically Mary played most of the game at left back before being replaced by Leanne. Ciara started the game as right sided center back with Faye on the left side.
Faye is a very strong leader and we saw what was missed when she was not around as she was bossing the whole team as she had never left.

This also meant that there was more long ball from the defence than last year
where most of the build up was short passes through the middle a certain pourcentage of passes went ober the midfield straight to the winger particulalrly to the left wing while the short passing was directed towards the right wing.

It was good to see Tracy and Champ playing most of the game as they need to come back towards match fitness and practice does not replace games. Tracy played left sided center back alongside Ciara then right sided center back alongside Faye. She did not got a lot of use off the ball doing one touch and short pass only. Champ played most of the park right back and 20 minutes at left back. +

Flaherty played 20 minutes at center midfield and had a good shot. Spencer played 20 minutes nearly let a goal in after a misunderstanding with Tracy over a cross ball and his excellent in her passing skill.

Basically 20 minutes of excellent football that was disrupted by the chances of personnel. And a personal battle between Jayne and the whole Arsenal midfield that was funny to watch.
