There are a few clowns in the media and even on this website who have suggested Reading will struggle this season. Once again, I can only ask what planet these people are on. Reading are a solid unit and they play decent football like all teams managed by Steve Coppell. At the Madejski they will be an amazingly tough proposition and we may have to rely heavily on the class of Arteta and Osman to try and open them up. We need our strikers to be chasing and harrying and attempting to really disturb Reading while they are in possession and we need also to be able to counter the pace they have going forward.
Inviting pressure is not an option and it is not the way an Everton team should play football. We need to go out there and try to get the midfield playing as a unit, retaining possession and then push forward to try and take the game to Reading. This one, as every game of football is, is winnable, but we have to be really careful to keep full concentration at all times and to try and find that bit of inspiration from our midfielders. I am looking forward to going to the Madejski, it should be a good contest.

I say 1-1 for this game. Though I really hope we can go there and get another win. Really impressed with the way the team played at Spurs! If we can duplicate that performance then 3 pts sholdnt be an issue. Otherwise, think a scored draw is more likely. Anyways, 7 pts from 3 games arnt that bad!

Lol. Well, I have to be honest, I thought we were unlucky not to get anthing here. Reading were everything I expected them to be, organised, hard working and pretty okay with their use of the football. However, I think we matched them for most of the game and I reckon with a bit more luck we would have come away with a point. There is no shame in losing at the Madejski, however. I reckon many teams will also get beat down there this season. Just a tad frustrating because I thought we were good enough for a point. I was also a little annoyed with what I perceived as a cagey start. There was no need for that and we should have gone straight at them and tried to ruffle them up a bit. Still, you live and learn. We were far from disgraced.

I you should have got a point if AJ could have scored from 2 yards out instead of hitting the post.
