England's loss

Paul Merson has added his voice to the many baffled Evertonians who cannot understand Joleon's omission from the England squad. Well, I can understand it perfectly well; Steve McClaren is a prat who I still am having difficulty believing is England manager.
How in God's name can Sol Campbell be recalled without any qualms when Joleon has been doing so consistently well for over a year now? Here is the answer: The England football squad is basically an old pals act and getting in it depends on who you know.
People call me unpatriotic because I don't go for England when they play. Well, I will start going for England when they start representing the country rather than a select few individuals who happen to have good connections. The England squad should be the best XI players, not the XI who know each other best and can have a laugh together at training sessions. They are a blooming disgrace. Steve McClaren as boss????? That is a disgrace too.
Lescott should be in the England squad because he is one of the top English centre halves around just now. I would say Osman also deserves some sort of recognition and Hibbo is as consistent a performer as anyone. They will not get in the squad any time soon. Why??? They don't know the right people I guess.
Anyway, it is England's loss and Everton's gain as we have quality English players who will stay fit as a result of not having to play in a stupid friendly. I hope Germany bloody stuff them.

For those of you who are too young to remember , I saw Everton lose the Double in '86 due to injuries . The biggest loss being Neville Southall who broke his ankle whilst away on international duty .

Ever since then I've been opposed to players risking injury playing for their country . I prefer them at home resting or at our training ground .
