Preston North End have pulled off a major deadline day coup by signing Blackburn Rovers attacker Paul Gallagher.

The Premiership star has agreed a loan deal until the start of January after The Lilywhites fought off competition from a host of Championship clubs for his acquisition.

The 23-year-old Scot, who spent a large period of the 2005/06 campaign on loan at Stoke City, will wear the number 10 shirt and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Coventry City.

He has played 53 matches for Rovers in his career grabbing six goals although in his spell at the Potteries, Paul featured in 37 games and found the net 11 times.

The Scotland Under 21 International, who had been utilised mainly as a substitute by Mark Hughes, can operate either as a forward or on either flank.

A fantastic signing for us a player i have wanted Simmo to go for he has proved in the past that he can cut it at this level and gives us plenty of options in mdifield and as a striker aswell.

What an absolutely cracking signing for Preston.. We were in for him yesterday, I think he chose you for location more than anything else, which is understandable.

He scored 11 goals for us two years ago and was our leading scorer that season, and he played the majority of it on the left wing (where I think he looks a lot better, he goes missing a lot up front). He's got plenty of skill, can beat players and scores some good goals.

Think he will do very well for Preston.

I hope your right Dazza

He looked good when he came on against Coventry yesterday his first touch looks class and i really do hope he plays out on the left as the player we have got there at the moment is one of the worst players to wear a Preston shirt in the last ten years

His name Danny Poo oh sorry Danny Pugh lol
