Messi is overated big time. He is one of the favourites for the Fifa Player Award on the back of a season where he achieved nothing. He did'nt win La Liga or the Spanish Cup, King Drogba killed his Barca team in the Champions League, and he failed to deliver in the Copa America against a reserve Brazil side. He did'nt finish top scorer in Spain or Europe. What did he do at the World Cup? Nothing!!!He's a cheat and I lose count on how many times he gives possesion away in a match. If Adebayour was in great form playing for Barca he'd be considered as the new God from Africa the best player of all time. Anyway Drogba, Kaka or Ronaldo deserves it.

What about Cannavaro or Fernando Torres? I don't get why they are even nominated, seriously.

I kinda agree with Kingdrogba on this to an extenet. But I think you could say the same about people like Ronaldo & Torres. Now there players who are really overrated. And Messi looks like he has alot more potential than either of them.

Cannavaro? Shocked Thanks for the slap on the knees.
Amendment:
Same applies to Thuram and Marquez. At least Cannavaro has the ligua and is still captain of the world champions.

Agree with TDV and Kingdrogba .

He is overrated but still is good and there other people way more overrated then him .
About him doing nothing in the world cup was because he was injured.
But when he played ofr 2minutes he scored a goal and did an assist .

do you think Adebayor is better than Messi?

Yes I seriously think so looking at their achievements. Adebayor has taken Togo to the world cup Single Handedly. He scored More than Eto'o, Drogba, and all other african players during that qualification campaign. He already has six goals in 3 matches he has played this season.

Junior, grab a much needed shower. You need to cleanse yourself from all of that sh!t you're coming out with.

I was going to break it down why Messi is better than Adebayor but if you can't fathom that out for yourself then maybe you should change your name to stevie wonder_junior. Blind.

Haha, nice one.

Anyway, i totally agree thank Cannavaro and Torres shouldn't have been nominated. Shocking. Just because they're big names at big clubs.

I'm Brazilian and an enthusiast fan of Messi....I hope he keeps doing good work in Barcelona....he's truly young has a brilliant future.....he's special....he handles the ball in a different way amd sometimes reminds of Maradona even though has a long way to grasp such a high level.

By the way, did he play well yesterday against Betis despite he scored no goal?

I think every young player who does anything right is overrated to a degree, some more so than others, Rooney for exmple. Messi is a phenomenal player theres no doubt about it and he still has so much time o mature and get better. And like Alvinho said the way he carries the ball is superb, his tricks usually have an end product, he scores goals, gets assists, his change of direction is amazing.....etc, but hes still overrated, people say hes the saviour of Argentinian football, which he may yet prove to be, but not yet. But its the peoplethat say hes the best in the world that have it most wrong, i tink ou have to prove your worth over a few seasons, not just a good 2seasons.

i dont think messi is overrated. he is an exceptional talentand a very rare one in the way he plays the game. as for people who say he is a diver and a cheater did anyone watch the betis game on sunday? on 2 occasions could he have went down in the box and both times stayed on his feet.People need to understand the pace that this guy travels at even a slight nudge can knock you off balance. he is extremely quick, very skilful, strong and a great finisher. everytime he is on the ball you get the feeling something could happen. ronaldinho is overrated. this kid aint

Lionel Messi
