im saying what i see, as Roy Walker would say.
if they are not your true back four then that would explain why they are struggling. do you think they are coping well at the back then? i certainly dont. my posts towards reading have been neutrally observed and i dont think i have been harsh on them at all. i make digs at Duberry because he is a grass, i dont make digs at Reading |

pathetic defending.
the Arsenal back four would be turning in their grave. floody you cant possibly condone this defensive display |

I think they are doing well overall. They have just been caught unawares by Torres - a player of undeniable caliber and this is one of the first times i believe Bikey and Duberry are playing together.
Shorey and Duberry are struggling a little but i think Bikey and De La Cruz are playing well indeed. |

the defending is desperate the majority of times. they are well out of their depth. that "offside trap" as an example smacked of desperation.
if that was West Ham i would be absolutely fuming. |

Sh*t that was and mistake i will admit. It seems like they were trying to catch him offside.
Duberry and Bikey have never and do not ever play together at the back. They perform well usually individually but not together |

Bar an injury to Ingimarsson, that will be the last time you see Duberry and Bikey together. They do not play together. There were two clear errors of judgement at the back and the other two can be put down to fine individual skill. This is also De La Cruz and Federici's first game of the season.
I am pleased with certain other aspects of the game tonight. Fae played well in that energetic DM role tonight and will take the place of Gunnarsson in the league. Lita's touch was better this evening and convey was full of energy and ran well with the ball as usual. Shorey needs to sort himself out... now. |

Shorey must have his mind on another Club?

It's quite clear.
He says he's still 'committed' but I'm not so sure. He's been awful this season. |

But generally as i said i preferred we wen out of the competition tonight in some sort of grace, I.E without getting hammered and some good performances from players out to prove themselves, Lita, Fae, Long etc. Bar a couple of defences lapses we played very well i thought.

I haven't seen much of Reading (live) this season, so I can't really comment.

It's funny watching the post match interview with Torres and Carra, Torres can't understand a word of what they're saying especialy with Carragher's scouse accent, the only thing he said was thank you

Reading made it into a lively game, almost end to end if you like but its no good looking decent going forward if your defence is going to let you down when it matters. West Ham suffered the same way at the weekend losing a game they didnt deserve to because of woeful defending. same situation here. a bit tighter at the back and a lot more composure and organisation and who knows what might have been |

I'd agree with that but the general defensive performance doesn't concern me greatly as that back four will never feature together in the league bar injury, and a lot of it was down to mis communication between these boys who rarely play together.

Torres was just awesome tonight! He got amongst Bikey and Duberry, his hold-up play was good and his finishing was just pure class! I really enjoyed his performance and still believe he should be starting every game, I was surprised that he started tonight though.
Benayoun's goal was amazing! he went past two players and rasped his shot past Federici. Steely Hill must be gutted that West Ham sold him There was a tidy performance from Lucas Leiva in his first game for us, he performed well alongside Sissoko in the middle and didn't do much wrong... he could have done without getting booked though, it was a needless challenge. Leto also did well, he didn't have a great influence on the game but it was a good ball he put through to Torres for his first goal. I'm not too sure on the other new boy Itandje though, I still need a bit convincing. He produced a good save from the brilliant over-head-kick effort of Lita's but it was straight down the middle of the goal so he was expected to save it. I'm happy with the win, and lets see the younger players get a run-out again in the next round.

How can you forget about the game if you're a Liverpool fan
Torres was absolutely unbelievable tonight,i was totally impressed with his eagerness to win every challenge, and i'm delighted at how quickly he is adapting to the english game,he was kicked all over the field by Bikey tonight but never once backed down, instead he gave it back and showed what he can really do,he'll probably be rested for saturday's game against Reading now knowing Benitez lol |
