That double save from Valdes for Barca was absolutely class.

It was.

My overall opinion of Valdes isn't the best (although i do think he has improved), but he sometimes makes some great saves.

What a brilliant strike by Daniel Pudil of Slavia (their first goal) against Sevilla!

Best goals of the night were Ibra's (i'm sure he meant to do that), Fabiano's (excellent pass by Kanoute) and Rooney's (nice build-up and finish). I liked Messi's goal too, because of the team-work that came before, but it wasn't a clean finish so that took something away from it.

I only saw highlights tonight, but imo Barca were the best team of the night. Stuttgart did have 2-3 very good chances though and we were lucky they didn't convert, to be fair.

Can someone who saw the whole game confirm my estimate that all our attacking players had a good game tonight? Ronaldinho looked good, Messi was excellent, Henry again having problems finishing but still looked great otherwise and even Deco looked OK.

I shouldn't base my opinion on highlights so i'm asking for opinions from people who saw the whole game. Putrum? Afrinux?

As for the other games, Lyon seemed to be better than Rangers but the visitors defended well and took their few chances and it was an away game so imo they definitely deserved the 3 points, no doubt about that. 0-3 is as clean as away results come. Sporting did well to get all 3 points in Ukraine. CSKA's keeper is definitely responsible for Fener's second but, from the highlights, 2-2 didn't look like an unfair result overall. Arsenal did control the game in Romania and Fabregas missed an absolute sitter, but Steaua did have a couple decent chances and a very good one, which they failed to convert. Inter seemed to have no real problems against PSV, but it was Ibra that gave them the 3 points, first by winning that penalty and then with that brilliant header. Sevilla shouldn't have allowed 2 goals, but they finally returned back to their old form (offensively). As for ManU, we probably didn't deserve to win, but as long as we keep winning i'm sure we'll find our old form at some point.

I'm now going to (half)watch the Inter - PSV game on repeat.

The first 30 minutes Barça played well, had some chances. The last 15 minutes of the first half Stuttgart played better than Barça and had some chances. And Stuttgart continued playing well at the beginning of the second half but when Barça scored the first goal then all was better for Barça, Stuttgart didn't play like at the beginning of the second half. Ronaldinho did a pair of good assistances in the first 20 or 30 minutes but for me didn't play a very good game. You know, he can't dribble any player.

A good all-around display and a show of solidarity from the men at the back withstanding some pressure from Stuttgart near the climax of the first half. A special mention to Valdes, who's presence kept us clean at the back and covered for the central pairing when they weren't exactly the sharpest. Again, Ronaldinho made us slower by at least 40% and lost us some vital counter-attacks but did create openings which the likes of Messi and Henry were to miss. Personally, I don't feel Ronaldinho is currently good enough to play in Barcelona's starting eleven. And by 'currently' I mean since the World Cup. Especially when Eto'o comes back and Iniesta resumes play on the left, he will be way behind his competitors. You don't get what you don't work for, and I don't know what "R10" is doing, but he ain't working.
Yaya Toure was truly missed. Stuttgart was bossing the midfield from the second half. Abidal did a great performance too, so did Henry. I think he must be sometimes selfish to score goals. He tried to feed Messi all along. Messi worked hard, had a goal. Probably the best player at the moment.

Biggest blow is Puyol and Marquez injuries. With Milito and Yaya out, our defense will become loose again. Nice to see that Abidal can play at the center back. A great signing.

Another clean sheet and another away win. Good game. But If Stuttgart took their chances, they could have won.
Bojan missed a sitter at the end. It was 3 vs 1, he should have passed the ball. Maybe he wanted to become the youngest to score in CL, making him very selfish.

I saw that. On the one hand, it shows that he's not afraid to take his chances, but on the other hand it was obvious that had he passed it would have been a goal, which shows lack of good judgement. He's still very young though so it's not surprising that his decision was immature.

If the result was a draw or Barça winning for only one goal in that moment, the most probable is that he hadn't been playing in that moment Very Happy He had to try to score because the game was finished, then for me was a good decision.

Predictions for tonight:

Besiktas - Porto (Porto)
Liverpool - Marseille (Liverpool)
Rosenborg - Schalke (Draw)
Valencia - Chelsea (Valencia)
Lazio - Real (Real)
Werder - Olympiakos (Werder)
Benfica - Shakhtar (Shakhtar)
Celtic - AC Milan (Milan)

The last 2 games might end in draws though. I suppose Besiktas and Lazio could also avoid losing and Chelsea could potentially grab an away draw with a bit of luck.

This is the worst game Werder has ever played in the CL, especially in the 2nd half. Theyre completely dominated by Olympiakos now.

The only home team that won tonight is Celtic, against the holders! All the other results were away wins except for the draw in Rome.

I doubt i was the only one who got most of those predictions wrong. A bizarre night indeed!

Olympiakos, for example, hadn't won away in Europe for 31 games!

Pandev's first and Valbuena's goal were the best of the night.
