Tomas Rosicky Arsenal Vs Bolton Wanderers.

Superb play from young Walcott, great strength composure and mazy skill, good whipped ball across and a real classy inventive finish from the little Czech.

It fell to him very difficulty and a simple tap in would not have done the trick. Instead he showed his class by inventively flicking it in.

It showed technique. And the play from Walcott was impressive leading up to the goal also.

Laughing Shhhhhhhh.

It at first sight was a great goal, but Hahnemann should have saved it quite comfortably. Huge goalkeeping error.

It was definitely one of the more unique attempts at punching a ball away.

Technique oooooooh, nothing spectacular about it really. Not a contender for goal of the month.

Yes the build up play was good but lets have another competition for that eh? The Official Build Up Play of the Month award! Laughing

How can you just dismiss great technique? And as far as i am aware J-Axe wanted great team goals included in this competition and that is exactly what it was.

Well its not a player competition then is it, nominate it as Arsenal v Bolton, not Rosicky vs Bolton.

IMO it should be about the goal scored by the player, that moment of individual brilliance that leaves you in awe, just like every other goal of the month/season etc out there.

I just don't think every goal of the month nomination has to be a 40 yard screamer that flies into the top corner. Rosicky was very creative in the moment, knew that if he just tapped it in it would have hit Jaaskelainen and deflected back out. So he turned his foot, got it under the ball and sweetly flicked it into the back of the net. Even without the great build up i think that finish deserves a nomination.

Well nominate it as that then, Rosickys finish. Trying to justify it with great build up play by the team what a wonderful goal yada yada just sounds pretentious.

Goal of the month should be bout just that IMO, great attacking/forward play by a team can have its own competition.

You can't discount the build-up play, not the immediate build-up play anyway - which is integral to the goal itself.

I don't see the word "Player" anywhere in the title to be honest? Just "Goal". And for me that consists of either individual wizardry from a player or fantastic team play. You can have a breath-taking "team goal" in my opinion anyway, and that's what you were talking about Jono, the moments that leave you in awe.

And if you look at MotD, it does contain goals of a "team" nature, not just individual ones.

Any goal that can be justified, can be nominated, surely. If you don't personally like it, you don't have to vote for it.

No, no it doesn't. It goes to about 'Goal J' which is 10 goals - that's what i thought we were having here?

Haha, I was expecting the Rosický goal to be ignored and I was going to stick my neck out and nominate another goal that wasn't finished by a rocket shot from 30yds.

Rosický's goal was a beautiful finish from a great piece of attacking football. It's at very least a nomination to get into the top 10!
