how are those leagues supposed to progress when their champions are not even treated the same as a team finishing 3rd in another country?

See, you're thinking about the good of football. I'm thinking about the level of football i get to watch in the world's most important club competition.

I do get your point, but i don't want to wait 2 weeks to see a new CL match only for the pick of the day to be something like NK Domzale vs Bate Borisov!

The only team from a small country i'd want to watch are my own team in Cyprus, APOEL, but i imagine 99.9% of CL viewers would rather do the ironing than watch us play.

I'm really surprised how Rangers are playing, are all the time defending. I thought that they would be agressive and played with long balls but the forwards are in the center of the pitch........ Can't imagine how they will play in Camp Nou, perhaps the keeper and 10 defenders.

The Gunners seem to have an extremely good time with Slavia - even better than MU with Dynamo Kyiv.

... and 7:0. Do such games make any sense in the CL? Hardly they do.

Football from another planet lads.

Simply unbelievable at times. Slavia were playing well even after the early goal went in too. Neutral

Cesc is just first class, I will watch his first goal over & over again. Arsenal are just class.

Don't forget that Arsenal played perhaps against the worst team of the CL.

Rangers - Barça boring game.

Tremendous result and it sounded like the beautiful football continued at the Emirates tonight.

I watched the game in Kiev between Dinamo and Manchester United. Quite entertaining and United's movement of the ball was great at times and the goals were well taken but Kiev did look dangerous on the break and scored two good goals.

What does that matter? You couldn't beat Rangers!

We were outstanding tonight - you play who is in front of you and you can't take ANY credit away from us.

It was a fine game. Although i was cheering on the Scots - the underdogs - so it was quite tense (the match was Rangers holding Barca off for 90 minutes) and exciting when Rangers got the odd break. But i take it your a Barcelona fan.

Fantastic result for Rangers in any case. Even drawing all their remaining games would see them through.

Rangers won the two first games and played at home and Slavia were beaten easily for Sevilla and the game was at Arsenal's home. I see that are different situations. I watched West Ham - Arsenal and Arsenal didn't play great, because there are more difficult and easier games. Barça last season played great against a team from Bulgaria, too. Then against those bad teams is easier to play great.

What you don't understand? He wrote like if it was the same to beat Rangers than Slavia and I have compared their results and IMO is more difficult to beat Rangers and moreover at Rangers' home. And I compared Slavia with a bulgarian team that Barça played last season to see that is easier to play great against bad teams.

To be fair, in many cases it's harder to play great against the smaller clubs as they often defend very deep with lots of men behind the ball. Opposed to better sides who generally take the game to you. Having said that i think it may apply more to the English game than in Europe..

The problem is that they have really bad defenders and then still that they play defending deep is easy to score goals.

Rangers v Barcelona was a genuine match. Although it finished 0-0, I'd much rather watch two quality sides (for differing reasons) battle it out in a hard fought game than watching one team lay down for another.

In the end, Rangers could have nicked it. I tipped a Rangers win anyway so it wouldn't have surprised me. I hope Gers make it through to the next round.
