He didn't do the worst job imagineable either.

I don't think many expected us to qualify above Germany or Czech Republic. The Germans have been playing some of the best football in Europe whilst the Czechs are always formidable, even when they're on bad form.

I think Staunton or whoever takes charge of Ireland if his services are not required needs to pick the players who really want to play for Ireland. To be honest of i were Irish, i would be a little annoyed at the amount of players who are in the national squad year in year out because of reasons such as they're Grandparents are Irish, and the young Irish guys who i would imagine would give their heart and soul to the green shirt need to be considered. Now i may be being a little biased here, but i firmly believe Doyle, Hunt and Long have that right attitude.

I agree.

But sometimes if you want to keep your head above dangerous waters, you need some quality and sometimes you need to bring in players who have a bit more quality on the ball. The standards of Coaching and players over here isn't the best around.

But I agree with the three Reading players. Well at least Doyle and Hunt should be natural First XI players now. They've got bags of quality and passion.

In fact, we should be thanking Coppell for bringing these boys to the fore.

I agree actually. All three were not really thought a lot of but Steve saw bags of talent and potential in each one of them. He had worked with Hunt at Brentford and brought him in as cover initially and paid under "85,000 for both Doyle and Long.

For a minute I beleived it was for real... Then reality hit and realised we'd never get a manager of that calibre

How about Martin Jol & Chris Hughton?
Potential Irish dream team in my opinion...
