Oh, and Bluenose, if your Everton team of the 80's was half decent, i'm sure it could of outlived the ban and qualified in the 90's..

A team can change over 5 years m8, If we'd of changed for the better we could of done. and who knows we might of if we would of competed in europe when we were the greatest. Rolling Eyes

True, but then we were winning in the 80's too, and for the following 20 years remained in and about the European scene. To be fair, 20 years on, you did actually get into the most prestigous football tornament once again.. mind, we all know how that ended.. Wink

I don't see it as a great problem. Last year, we drew Barcelona - won. The year prior, we drew Benfica - lost. Now, the first was on paper tougher, but we triumphed. I actually think we play considerably better against the better sides. But nevertheless, not all the time are the top seeds better than the second (a direct example being us qualifying in second to Porto or Marseille).

As for those Besiktas supporters, i believe they were the 'Ultras':

- attend as many games as possible (home and away), regardless of cost or distance
- loyalty to the stand in which the group is located (also known as the Curva or Kop).

You're fans were outstanding last night mate, apart from when objects were thrown at Pennant & Gerrard. The Besiktas fans are probably the best out of the Istanbul clubs.

There was a comparison before the match ;Who is the best ? Kop or Çarşı ?

The answer is given yesterday.(Spurs fans will prove this Wink )

We definitely deserved our win. I also want to thank Liv'pool players for the quality play.

I didn't have a chance of meeting Reds fans in İstanbul. It would be great to host them and have some fun.

I would also like to learn if it is okay to share my msn messenger adress here ?
It will be great to chat with you and improve my English Smile

And here is the photo of the match yesterday ;

All of Besiktas players and staff were celebrating and running around the pitch but one of them was near Gerrard.

Thats the responsible person for Besiktas team materials who is holding Gerrard's hands , trying to comfort him after the match. His name is Süreyya. They had a talk until they exit the pitch and entered the corridor like an old friends.

It teaches us how to be a worldwide football star. Thanks to Gerrard.

And Süreyya displaying Turkish foresight. Thanks to Süreyya.

See you soon.

Your fans taught us a lesson on how to create an atmosphere... Awsome support m8.

Loved the whistling every time a red got the ball too. Wink

Liverpool need to go to Marseille, and have Porto and Besiktas at home, i can see 6 points coming from these games, Marseille away will be a tough game. Also depending on the points Porto and Besiktas at home won’t prove to be easy.

With the current form Liverpool are in and the rafa's rotation policy, sammi scoring at the wrong end and playing an in form Arsenal who stuffed them three times last season, it doesn’t look good them. Potentially out of Europe and league before November is over. Now that would be funny.

Rafa "I need money to compete with the big boys"

Board "Ok we'll give you money"

Rafa "The promised me money, but I haven’t seen any"

Board "Here you go here is your money"

Rafa "Now I can compete for the league"

Yeah right rafa....hahahahahaha

I remember Newcastle being in the exact same situation a few years ago when they had to win their last 3 games to qualify, and one of those games was against Barcelona, they ended up doing the impossible so we definitely can...

It's gonna take a massive amount of effort, but it is possible without doubt,Liverpool always respond better when everything is against them, just look at the game against Milan or the time we had to beat Olympiakos by 2 goals to qualify and also the FA Cup final v West Ham...

anything is possible,so i'm backing Tez's comments up,i'm behind the boys Razz

Incase you don't already know, if we win our game in hand (West Ham at home), we'll have had an equally good start to United's last season. And didn't they go on to win it? AND we're totally out of form as well. I do love the picture your trying to create though, that we're in some sort of crisis.. the rotation card is boring though matey.. Wink

Yes I wrote the problem because was a problem for Barça because if there is a Barça - Liverpool again sure that Liverpool beat us like always. For this reason I would prefer that Liverpool didn't qualify.

Ah, i understand.

Although in the form we're in, you'd brush us aside. That said, if we did go to all the effort of getting through, i'm sure the players would be damned if they'd get beaten in the first knockout stages..

From a Liverpool perspective, i don't care who we meet in the Champions League, so long as we make it through. Anyone but AC Milan that is..

Though we all know the dream scenario would be a UEFA Cup Final versus Everton.. Twisted Evil

Besiktas vs Liverpool
